The final fixture of 2010 was cancelled due to weather conditions but it would have made no difference to the final outcome which was a well-deserved win by Casablanca Mike who played consistently well and regularly throughout the year. Congratulations Mike!

The final score line was PCM 12346789 / 5 IPAPA being an 8-1 victory to Pete and CM.

I don’t think Ian and Papa played badly it just seemed that Mike and I had the rub of the green.

Darts – Papa holds his own (Ooh er Missus!)

Well although we were down to three Bad Boys this week it was one of the most competitive and enjoyable sessions for a long time.

Pete and Ian were pitched against Pa and Pa.

The final score line was PI 12489 / PaPa 3567

Notable Events:

Bloody competitive darts, it was rare for anyone to be a long way ahead and the finishes were usually very tight and could have gone either way.

I was shocked to find that when Papa plays on his own he always follows team orders!

It was Papa’s first solo run and like all before him he found it both tiring and enjoyable.

Bull Wars: Papa 4, Ian 4, Peter 3. Making Ian and Papa joint bullmeisters (aggregate aside).

Chart changes: None, Papa gains a % Ian and Peter gain a nano-slither.

Darts – The Curse of the Jelly Arm!

Greetings to this quick and dirty report.

It was a pleasure to see Jelly Arm back in the hut after a long lay-off with hoof problems, but he is back!

John was also back in the hut despite paw problems… Hmm it seems we play with a load of injured animals.

Anyway, enough distraction on to the bitter pill.

CM and John were teamed, as were JA and I. the only difference between the two teams were that one played well and the other was dire!

The score line was horrendous JCM1234567 / W - PJA.

John and CM thoroughly deserved their win as did mike and I deserve our loss, we were f*cking awful!

But that is the way it goes sometimes!

Notable events: despite having a couple of decent runs JA and I couldn’t make a win, in one game we lost from having over a 200 point lead! Never mind onward and upwards, JA tells me he is hoping to get above his monthly average over the rest of the year; clearly he wants to win a game!

Bull Wars: CM 4, John 3, JA 1, Pete 0… Says it all really – we were murdered.

Chart changes: John thunders back to the number one spot meaning CM drops to second despite a handsome win! Pete drops to fourth allowing Mr Rushton (who cried off this week) to go up to third place… Hmmm…. I can feel certain conspiracy theories in the offing.

Due to the dramatic change at the top of the league table (and the lack of it at the bottom) I feel duty bound to yet again point out that a bad boy must attend 12 times in a year for his score to be valid in the yearly rankings. So john, if you can keep up the % and the attendance you may yet beat Mr Weaver.

JA if you up your attendance and win a game before the end of the year we won’t all chant loser, loser when we see you at boule.

Darts – A happy birthday?

Combatants for the evening were Pete, CM, Doddy and Rushers (who turned out on his birthday)!

A quick flip decided on teams of Pete and Ian ‘v’ Doddy and CM.

We launched in to a 7 game set that showed a final score line of PI 124567 / 3 DCM being a 6 – 1 victory to Pete and Ian.

Notable Events: Very rare that I have to put a negative in here but poor Mr Casablanca deserves a mention / sympathy!

Mike had a pretty bad evening’s darts, not just compared against his usual high standard but alas the sort of play that brings tears to your eyes. I’m sure it must just have been a glitch and he will be back on form shortly.

Bull Wars: Peter 4, CM 1 making Peds the bullmeister.

Chart Changes: None – Both Ian and Pete gained around 1% while both Doddy and CM dropped around 1.5%

CM still looks a likely winner this year but we will have to see… Game On!

Darts – A case of theft?

It was a case of the three Musketeers yet again, attendance at bad boys has been miserable this year, some unable to make it with good reason and some not! Let’s see some more effort or are folks getting darts fatigue?

Mike and I teamed against Rushers and it has to be said put up a fairly miserable performance for most of the evening, you know the feeling when three scoring darts is worth a high five! Ian seemed to fait a little better but sadly for him it wasn’t reflected in the final score line, maybe he was robbed?

Score Line: PCM 13569 / 2478 I

Notable events:

The most notable thing was how few trebles were scored there was a real drought for all players!

On a more positive note Ian was ‘cock on’ with bulls.

Bull Wars: Ian 9, Pete 2, CM 1 making Rushers a runaway Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes: None, However I went up a smidge while Rushers and CM dropped a sliver to which I can only say ‘Result’!

Darts – Super Fast Report!

Combatants: Peter, Ian, Doddy, CM.

Score Line: DCM 134589 / 267 PI

A fun evenings darts, although as is mostly usual someone has to take a hit! This evening is was Pete and Rushers. We rarely seemed to raise our play above average while CM and the Doddmeister seemed to play well for most of the evening. In fact I feel they should be awarded joint MOTM.

Notable events:

Doddy was well in to the middle scoring plenty of 25s and bulls, some even when we wasn’t aiming for them!

CM was a pain in the arse on treble 19’s, reducing Ian and I to tears on several occasions… I mean when the enemy score 2 x T19 (several times) you can feel the blood start to boil!

Ian had some good darts including some double semis and some treble action.

Peter managed a treble semi, although one wasn’t required!

Bull Wars: CM 4, Doddy 3, Ian 3, Pete 1. CM is Bullmeister.

Chart Changes: Doddy is the big winner with a stunning 6% increase putting him is close contention with Papa! Pete, Ian and mike all move around under 1%. Casablanca is beginning to look like this years winner!

Darts – Another game of two halves?

Combatants: Peter, Ian and CM. (JA was due to play but sadly was feeling under the weather, we wish him a speedy recovery).

The teams were flipped as Ian and Casablanca ‘v’ Pedros.

An exciting evenings darts with a final score line of: ICM 12359 / 4678-10 P, being a 5 all draw!

Notable events:

Some very close games. All players having some severe treble action and some hot runs on the middle as well.

All players had there hot and cold periods with little in the middle, folks were either on them or not!

Bull wars: Peter 8, Ian 4, CM 3.

Chart Changes: None, however in a cruel stroke of fate due to the fact that all players % ‘s were greater than 50% everyone goes down a bit due to the draw!

Darts - Mike goes Monster.

Combatants: Pete, Ian and CM

Teams: it took about five flips to get teams as we all kept getting the same colour!

Score Line PI 1 / 2345678 CM, a 7 – 1 victory to CM.

Notable Events:

Casablanca was on top form, easily MOTM. He was getting trebles virtually every turn, if not double trebles or Shanghais! Pete and Ian played fairly poorly and the combination of (Mike’s) good and (our) bad play meant we never really got a look in except for the first game.

There were a couple that were close but, Mike still took them, he really was unstoppable. A deserved monster win.

Bull Wars: CM 5, Peter 2, Ian 1. So CM was Bulmeister as well!

Chart Changes: None, but of course Mike is now building a significant lead. Is it too late for any of us to catch him?

Darts – Jelly Arm Returns (and holds his own)!

Combatants: Pete, Ian, Papa and Mike-D (AKA JA).

Teams: A couple of flips produced the pairings of Peter and Ian ‘v’ Papa and Jelly Arm.

Score Line: JA Papa W / 1234567 PI, Making a 7 – 0 victory to Peter and Ian.

Notable Events:

Jelly Arm was back in da house! It was a real pleasure to see Mike back at darts; there were no signs of rust even after a six month layoff. Sadly despite putting up a great return effort he wasn’t rewarded with a game win meaning that he maintains his 0% standing!

There were some great darts thrown all round with all players getting some ‘specials’ in. Some I can remember are: Ian and Papa both getting double semis, JA getting copious treble twenties, Pete scoring 7 sixteens. Everybody getting trebles.

I have to say that there were some extremely close games and that Papa and JA really didn’t deserve to walk away with a whitewash, a 3 - 4 result would have been nearer the mark, not that I am complaining!

Bull Wars: JA 2, Peter 2, Papa 1, Ian 1. So no clear Bullmeister this week.

Chart Changes: None, however the mid table is beginning to bunch-up with Pete, Ian and John all within 1% of each other.

Darts – The art of the short report: Part 2

Combatants: Pete & Ian (Doddy had to bail out).

Teams: Unsurprisingly, Peter V Ian (no flips required!)

Score Line: Peter 1256789-10 / 34 Ian. An 8 – 2 victory to Peter.

Notable Events: Quite a lot of bull action considering there were only two players (including a bull/semi finish from Pete).

Some excellent scoring runs for both players often followed by periods of drought. Over the evening Peter played better darts but the advantage was not as great as the score line suggests, some games were very nip & tuck.

Bull Wars: Ian 7, Peter 6. Making Rushers Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes: Ian’s % dropped by around 2%, Peters went up around 1.3% These reasonably drastic changes were enough to cause Ian and Peter to swap places.

No doubt Rushers will mount a counter attack in due course…

Darts – More interesting than England in the world cup!

Another exciting evening’s darts, despite all managing to play some TERRIBLE darts we also threw some crackers! Pete and Doddy were teamed against Rushers and Casablanca.

The score waxed and waned between the two teams eventually though Pete and Doddy decided that although they had used a lot of wax their score had truly waned… The final score line was ICM 236789 / 145. Most of the games were pretty close ended in bull contests and I seemed to keep hearing myself say ‘five plays three’ when we looked at the bull tally required.

Generally the meister and I agreed the opposition deserved the win as they played better throughout the evening.

Notable Events: Some good treble and bull action all round.
Ian had a double treble twenty to start off a game.
Peter had a double bull’s eye to finish a game.

Bull Wars: Peter 3, CM 3, Rushers 2, Doddy 1

Chart Changes: Pete drops 1%, Ian goes up 0.6%, Doddy goes up 1.8! and CM goes up by 0.4%. During this process Ian moves ahead of John.

Darts – The mighty can fall!

Greetings Bad boys! It is a very quick report tonight due to time constraints.

Four players on a glorious summers evening, Pete, John, Papa and Rushers.
Teams were decided on a single flip: Pete and Ian ‘v’ John and Papa.

Some excellent darts followed and despite some very closely contested games the final score line was a convincing win for Ian and Pete: PI 123467 / 5 J Papa 6 – 1.

The losers certainly played better than their one win suggests and a 2-5 or 3-4 might have reflected the darts more accurately, but hey, you won’t hear Peds or the Moth-man complaining!

Notable Events: Nothing stunning but some great darts thrown by all. John was particularly keen on trebles.

Bull Wars: John 3, Pete 2, Ian 1 and Papa 1… Making Stan the bullmeister!

Chart Changes: None…. Only kidding! Sadly for John (I can hear the rest of you being sympathetic) tonight’s match tips his % far enough for him to drop to second place.
John drops around 10%, Pete goes up 1.45%, Ian rises by 1.38% and Papa diminishes by 1.66%.

Commiserations to John, but you did a great job holding on to the top spot for five matches and had tonight not been as conclusive you may well have held on to the lead for some time longer…. Mind you there is every chance that you could win it back….

Darts – Rushers Runs Out of Steam?

Tuesday evening saw four fully bouled-out players take to the oche: Peter, CM, Papa and Ian. After a bit of chin-wagging the teams were flipped as: Pete and Casablanca 'v' Ian and Papa.

We started playing at a rip-roaring pace finishing nine games before 10:00pm.

The final score line was: IP 14 / 2356789 PCM, being a 7 – 2 victory to Casablanca and Pedro.

Notable Events: Great bull work, great treble work, Papa did some Shanghai work as well.

All players either threw brilliant or rubbish darts, very little in between, everyone having turns at both! Ian had a particularly frustrating second half of the evening, having been right on the money earlier on he had a three or four game barren patch. It happens to us all now and then, but it hurts like hell when it is your turn!

However on the upside...

Bull Wars: Ian 3, Papa 2, Peter 1, CM 1 Making Rushers Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes: None, Peter goes up just over 1.5%, Ian down around 2%, CM up around 1.25% and Papa dropped around 1.5%

Next week is looking a bit dodgy with only Peter and Doddy currently available, we will take a view on it nearer the time...

Darts – A Load of Bull

Just three souls at the hut last night, but a highly competitive evening. The teams were Peter and Ian 'V' Casablanca Mike.

We zoomed in to fast paced games managing to zip through nine before the end of the evening.

The final score line was PI 1246789 / 35. A 7 – 2 victory to Pete and Ian.

Everyone played well, although CM did have a slightly slacker evening than usual. Luckily Ian and I were able to cover each other's dry spells, Mike didn't have that luxury .

The games were hard fought but in the end I think it was bulls that won the day and Rushers and Peds were hot on them, CM lost at least three games to being bull-ied. A fairer result might have been 6 – 3 or 4 – 5, but hey ho there you go!

Notable Events:

Lots of nice trebles etc.

In one game where MC had a substantial lead Pete stepped up to the oche and nailed two bulls eyes to put his team back in the game, and then on Ian's turn he did exactly the same... four bulls eyes out of six darts took the game, Mike was a little gob smacked!

There were also a couple of bull semi finishes pulled out of various hats.

Bull Wars: Pete 5, Ian 4, Mike 3. Peds is BM for the evening.

Chart Changes:

None, Mike Drops Around 3%, Pete and Ian go up around 1.5% each.

Darts – Nip and Tuck all the way – Well almost...

Tuesday night's 'baduns' were Peter, John, Ian and Casablanca Mike.

After several flips the teams were decided as Peter and John 'v' Casablanca and Ian.

We managed to get through eight games over the course a highly competitive evening. The majority of the games were close although there were two or three that were runaways. Both sided played well but over time Casablanca and Ian showed they were the better players. And the final score line reflected the play well. ICM 13456 / PJ 278 a 5 - 3 victory to Ian and Mike.

Notable Events:

Various Shanghais and double semis and general treble action. One game was nearly drawn on 53 points until Ian sneaked a bull to add the points need to win.

Bull Wars: CM 3, Ian 1.

Chart Changes: No changes, Peter drops 0.75%, Ian goes up 0.5% CM rockets up 0.02%! and John slumps 11%.

Darts – Ian Strikes Back.

Bad Boys on duty were Pete, Doddy, Ian and Papa.

A couple of flips produced sides of Pete and Ian v Papa and Doddy.

The first couple of games were hard fought with Doddy playing particularly well, despite this both games went to the opposition.

Several games followed with all players having golden moments and some disastrous turns. Despite the fluctuating fortunes the games tended to go one way leaving the evening with a rather lopsided score line: PI 1234678 / 5 PaD.

Notable events: The usual really, all players managing to miss their target for many darts on the run. Followed by 'I can do no wrong' sequences that racked up scores by around one hundred at a time.

Bull Wars: Peter 2, Ian 2, Papa 1, Doddy 1.

Chart Changes : None, but some hefty % changes. Pete up 2.3%, Ian up 2.2%, Doddy down 2.3% and Papa down 3%.

Ian must be chuffed having made a lot of ground back from last week's defeat.

Despite the loss Doddy found an optimistic side to the defeat "The good thing is it brings Papa down nearer to my score." Just the sort of team spirit we all need eh?

Darts – Respect the black board!

Greetings Bad Boys

It was an unusual fixture for me this week as I didn't play! Due to a poorly foot I was hobbling around and although I started a game I was barely a quarter of the way through when I decided to relax on the sidelines and watch Rushers and Casablanca duke it out.

As I wasn't paying attention 100% of the time I decided to ask Mr Rushton to present some of his highlights which go something like this:

Ian's Report:

The flipometer paired Poorly Pete and CM against Ian.

It started well for Ian, Pete played poorly (not his fault) but due to his being poorly with a poorly foot.
He had our sympathy. He retired during the first game leaving me to rack up the win of the first game.

The next 8 games can best be reported under a very general description covering them all. The first part of each game was played against a background of CM cursing his inability to hit the targets he was going for and watching me amass a score of at least 50 and in some games considerably more.

The second part of the game was then played against a background of me cursing my inability to hit the targets I was going for and watching CM wipe out the deficit and amass a lead of at least 50 and often more.

The final part of the game, the bull war, left me always wanting at least 6 to the CM 3, and every time I failed.

I was of course conscious of the entertainment of the crowd and tried desperately hard to break this losing sequence by varying the tactics employed. I tried everything I could think of like highest numbers first, random choice of numbers first, ‘quadrant’ numbers early on, leave CM to score on his chosen number and just go for mine until one of us cracked. No variations helped me to fix my inability to win another game.

We both played some good darts, in our own sections of the games, but in summary Teddy was well and truly stuffed.

Back to Pete:

So as you can tell a bit of a one sided final score line Ian 1 / 23456789 CM.

Notable Events:

I didn't play, bummer, but I have to say it was enjoyable to watch, CM deserved to win but I can't say Rushers should have lost by that margin... But then CM played for a lot of the evening like a man on fire, he really does deserve MOTM.

If you take a look at the picture of the scoreboard you might be able to make out the word mushroom on it. Can you believe CM's brain is now so addled that he has the cheek to use the sacred board as his shopping aid! I hope he forgot to buy them on the way home....

Chart Changes: No, % changes Yes... Ian drops around 3.5% while CM rises by about 2.5%.

But hey, the year is young, not half way through yet so it is still, Game On!

Darts – The return of the Radish!

Greetings darts aficionados, firstly let me say that when we heard John was playing this evening, Doddy and I mentioned that we might be prepared to throw a game or two (for cash) to bring his score % down. I must make it absolutely clear this was just a joke not a serious offer... I mean we are darts players, not snooker champions!

So tonight was quite special, the first time this year that we had a full house... 6 players.

They were:

Peter, Papa, John, CM, Doddy and Ian. A few flips of the dedicated darts coins produced sides of : Papa, Ian and CM 'v' Peter, John and Doddy. After a bit of practice and (for some) the inevitable chinwag about the woes of Forest Green Rovers we were ready to go!

John won the middle for diddle with a semi, and off we went. PICM crushed us in the first two games, although nothing was said at this point (we agreed later) PJD though that this would continue for the rest of the evening, frankly we felt outclassed...

But something wonderful started to happen, PJD picked up the pace and took the next two games, lost the fifth, took the sixth, lost the seventh and grabbed the eighth. This means the final score line was PICM 1257 / 3468 a 4 – 4 Draw! By the end of the evening I actually felt that is was a just result. Hoorah to everyone!

Notable Events:

Papa turned up with refurbished radishes, courtesy of darts corner he had feather flights on his old 'bombs' and he played pretty well with them as well.

Johnny boy lost some of his magnificent %, although it is still pretty good. He also had a bull semis finish to a game – just when we had to have it.

Generally there were some good scoring combos achieved including bull semis for other players, double trebles and the like.

Mr Dodd played very well and for my money was MOTM for playing above his usual game, keep it up Mr Meister!

I am sure there was other great stuff but I can't recall it at the moment!

Chart Changes: NONE! But % have moved! Peter gains 0.11% Whoopee Dooo... Ian drops about 0.5%, Doddy rockets up a tad over 7%! Casablanca drops around 1% and Papa goes up 1.4% courtesy of the radishes!

Darts – A new Bad Boys record!

Greetings missile throwers.

I hate to sound too over enthusiastic but we had a bloody brilliant evening's darts on Tuesday.

The line up was Pete, Casablanca and Ian. A flip decided that Pete an Ian would do battle against the Champ (of Casablanca).

Usually I would like to say that all the games were closely fought but in fact only two were, the rest were very one sided, almost walks in the park for the victor. However even though on many occasions the scores weren’t close the score line was!

PI 13579-10 / 2468 CM a 6-4 victory to Pedros and Val.

Until the last game Pete and Ian took all the odd numbered games and CM the even numbers. The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed that for the first time I have had to introduce a hyphen to the score line to show that a double digit game was played.

Yup we managed 10 games in the evening without any time extension; hot darts were the order of the night to get ten games in – a new Bad Boys record

Notable Events: 10 Games! Several double semis, double trebles, double doubles and a few Shanghais to boot!

I have to say that both the victors felt the result didn't quite reflect the evening's darts, both teams played well and a 5 – 5 would have reflected the efforts better. But at the end of the day Ian and I both said fuck it and gratefully accepted the uplift!

Bull Wars: Honours even at three bulls a piece.

Chart Changes: None... Although the gap between Ian and CM is closing rapidly, Ian gains a tad over 1.5% While CM dives by around 2.5% leaving a difference of only 3.5%. Peter gains about 1% and continues his limp back towards the 50% mark.

Darts – State of the Nation.

A top evening's darts, many closely fought matches but despite that one team consistently took the honours. Well played Ian and CM who beat Peter and Papa in 6-3 victory. The final score line was ICM 134678 / 259 PePa.

Notable Events:

The usual smattering of good trebles, doubles semis etc. It is unusual to report a poor dart here but it was suggested I should... Somebody went outside the treble ring while aiming for bulls, I am not going to say who, ian case you all start rushin about making rude comments on Thursday.

Bull Wars: CM 3, Ian 2, Papa 2, Peter 1. This makes CM the Bullmeister for the evening!

Chart Changes: No moves and mo massive gains or losses, Pete -1.25%, Ian +1.12%, CM +0.43%. Papa -1.0%

State of the nation:

We are around one third of the way through this season and the year is certainly shaping up to be different to previous seasons.

Attendance so far this year is somewhat fragmented. High attendees have (so far) been Peter, Ian and CM all showing over 10 visits. Papa in the middle ground with 7 visits Moving down to the lower end with Doddy, Dave, John, Mike D and Steve under 5 visits. There are good reasons for most of the low attendance numbers and I hope some can be caught up through the rest of the year.

I am fairly sure that you all know but I will state it again for the record:

I reserve the right to discount a player's score from the final yearly standings if he has attended less that twelve times and I consider his current score disproportionate because of this. At the moment John is probably the only player who would fall foul of this rule because the bugger still has 92.86% after 2 visits. Come on Johnny boy we are all waiting to grab a few percentage points from you! :-)

MOTM: Doddy currently holds the highest MOTM % (measured against attendance).

Who is your money on to win this year? If I had to bet at the moment I would put my money on CM and Ian taking first and second place and after that it is guess work.

Darts – Steady as she goes!

Darts – Steady as she goes!

It was all hands on deck as the good ship Bad Boy set of for Dart Bay.

Crewing the ship were Pete, Ian, Doddy and Casablanca Mike. A quick flip of the golden doubloons ended up with Ian and Peter to port 'v' Doddy and CM to starboard.

Pete and Ian pulled out of the harbour first but handed the controls over for the next leg of the voyage, the captain of the rig changed several times during the evening but eventually the ship manifest showed: PI 13467 / CMD 25 a 5 -2 salute to Captain Rushton and first mate Pedros.

Casablanca Mike and Doddy played in a ship shape fashion for the evening but didn’t quite manage to hoist the main sail as far as the other salty dogs!

Notable Events:

Rushers had a bull-semi finish.
CM had Shanghai.
All had some good treble action.
Both sides managed to give the opposition a severe drubbing at one point or another.

Bull Wars: CM 2, Peter 1, Ian 1 = CM is Bullmeister for the evening.

Sea Chart Changes:

No changes. Going on shore leave: Peter +2%, Ian +1.5%, Doddy +3.5%! Walking the plank: CM -4%.

Darts – Papa, the only way is up!

Greetings Bad Boys and darts fans. On Tuesday evening it was Pete, CM, Papa and Ian in the hut. After several flips Papa no mates was teamed with Casablanca Mike 'v' Peter and Ian.

Some competitive darts were played with both teams throwing some good arrows but Papa and Casablanca had the edge and emerged victorious.

The final score line was PCM 12467 / 358 PI. A 5 – 3 victory to Fruin and Weaver! Although the boys beat us fair and square it was very nearly a draw, one game went to the wire on a single semi. How fickle fate is!

Notable events:

Papa and maybe Mike (can't remember for sure) had Shanghai on the 20's

There were some double semis. Peter managed three treble elevens scoring a handy 99 in one game.

Bull Wars:

Papa 3, Ian 2, CM 1, Peter 1. Papa was the bullmeister and MOTM for some excellent darting all evening.

Chart Changes:

None, Peter drops around 1%, Ian 2%, CM 0.5% and Papa goes up 4.%!

Darts – Casablanca Invades Nailsworth!

I am going to keep this short and sweet, because I all know you don't want me to start weeping over the keyboard.

Tuesday evening was a two man affair (please don't take that literally). Just Pedro and Casablanca Mike.

Game one Mike game me a hammering, game two I gave mike a hammering, game three mike hammered me again, game four I hammered Mike again..... And so it looked set for the evening but alas (for me) Mike wasn't content with just the odd numbered games and started nicking my odd numbered games!

Hard fought games followed, but the only victories were for CM; leaving the final score line: CM 135678 / 24P A whopping 6 -2 win.

Notable Events: Some savagely good and bad darts by both players.

Bull Wars: CM3, Peter 1 – CM is Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes: None.

Darts – A game of Four Quarters.

It was three man outing on Tuesday evening, the teams were decided on the first flip. Pete and Papa 'v' Ian.

Without any messing about we launched in to an eight game evening. Rushers thrashed the arse off Papa and I in the first game. Mightily miffed we moved on to the second to lose that one as well; albeit by a much reduced margin.

Then thankfully (at least for me and Papa) something wonderful happened... We took the next game and the next and.... Yes it was a game of four quarters and three of them were Pedros and Papa's.

Which of course means the final score line was: Ian 12 / 345678 PP.

Notable Events:

Not many to be honest, plenty of trebles, some double semis and the odd double scoring treble; but this is getting a quite regular occurrence. All concerned played well, if pressed I would say that it was bull action that cost Ian a winning evening, which is strange as he was cock on for the first two games.

None of this stopped the fun or banter and I have to say the games were immensely enjoyable and very competitive.

Chart Changes:

No actual changes, Peter gains around 3% finally climbing from a starting position this year of 12.5% to 50%. Ian drops about 4.5% to 56.25% and Papa grabs himself a massive 10% boost taking him up to 35%.

Next week is currently set to be another three man game: Pete, CM and Doddy if anyone fancies making it a four man then shout up.

Darts – Dave Demonstrates 'Fo(u)rplay'

Greetings followers of the dark art of bad boy darting. Try saying that with your teeth in while sucking the wrong end of a donut!

It was a cool but clear evening; the hut was warmed to a perfect (in my humble opinion) 15-18 degrees. Tonight's talent was Pete, Dave, Mr 100% and Doddy. A quick flip of ye olde bespoke darts flippers decided that the teams would be Pete and John 'v' Dave and Doddy.

John took the middle for diddle with a semi, and we were off! Readers, I have to tell you that the evening scores were a little one-sided, but not completely. The final score line was PJ 123457 / 6 DD. Making a rather convincing 6 – 1 win to Mr (almost) 100% and Peter.

I don't think either Dave or Doddy will be offended if I say that they just couldn't get in to their full stride for the evening whereas Pete and John (particularly John) were firing on all cylinders, John was MOTM.

Notable events:

John lost a game...

There was the usual flurry of doubles and trebles for most folks, but more regularly for the eventual winners.

A game was stolen on bulls.

Either Dave or John managed a double scoring treble turn

The number of bulls for the evening were very light, only four in total.

Dave showed us what darts fourplay is: chuck a dart a couple of feet in front of you then grab it and throw again.... thus four darts, four-play! Anyone trying for five-play will be asked to leave the hut.

Despite the one sided score the games were fun and a good evening was had win or lose.

Bull Wars: Dave 1, Doddy 1, Peter 1, John 1. No Bullmeister this week!

Chart Changes: Peter goes up (with a 5% gain) to fourth place, bumping Dave down a spot; sadly Dave takes a massive -15% hit. John retains top spot but drops from 100% to 92.86%. Remarkably Doddy's percentage remains unchanged at 14.29%

Next week looks like a three man game between Pete Ian and Papa, so if anyone can pull an extra game to make up the numbers please shout ASAP.... Steve, put that phone down.... you have to turn up to make up the numbers!

Darts - Hectic In The Hut

There were four Mickey-nauts assembled on Tuesday evening: Bad boy Pete, Head-banger Rushton, Casablanca Mike and Papa. That’s just plain old Papa, not the ‘Bad Papa’ all the porn searchers come here to find!

After a little practice we embarked on an extended tossing session. That’s ‘Flipometer’ tossing, not the energetic stuff all the porn searchers come here to do.

The eventual result of the flips was that Pedros and HB were teamed against CM and Papa. We launched in to rapid game mode and managed to polish off nine games before 10.00pm.

The score line was PI 12467 / 3589 PCM making a 5 - 4 victory to Peter and Ian

Notable Events:

Ian finished the opening game on his first attempt as bulls parking a bull plus semi, gobsmacking. He then went on to do similarly in the next game.

Normally something like that would earn you man of the match but everyone played well! Papa whacked in several bulls, CM took plenty of semis and Pete managed a bull plus 2 semis for one turn.

Papa scoring on Shanghais, a couple of players planting scoring double trebles. Trebles galore, solid play from all.

Darts – Of Foxes and Lions!

Ian Pete and CM gathered at the appointed time to chuck some ‘arras’. While we began waiting for Dave to turn up (Which never happened, naughty boy Dave, were you out with Steve?), we looked out of the hut window to the side steps only to see a cheeky fox performing balancing tricks on the wall capping. The bold bugger then did a run-by past the stairs up to the hut. Maybe we should rename ourselves the Bad Boys Cub?

The three of us all had a quick flick and the flipometers decreed it was to be Casablanca Mike and Pete ‘v’ Val Rushton (for it was he festooned in a cardy). We banged straight in to a nine game set. The score line was as follows: PCM 1234579 / 68 VR being a 7 - 2 victory to Pete and Cassy.

I have to say that we all played pretty well, with some great darts all around, indeed we were like three lions, although not all playing on the same team! But we did all shake hands unlike some of our football bretherin.

In the post match round up all players agreed that a fairer score might have been 5 - 4, but ‘them’s the breaks’ as they say, PCM just had the edge for the evening and it showed strongly in the results.

A couple of the games followed in the recent tradition of massive catch-up efforts, always a thrilling end to a game! In game Eight Rushers took Mike and I apart, suddenly he was on fire and unstoppable, luckily we put him out by pissing on him in game nine. So if next time you see Ian he is still smouldering, you know why.

All joking apart Ian – well played – You would have had MOTM except Mike and I weren’t slouchy either.

Foxes, double semis, bull semis, shanghais, some remarkable large scoring throws on both sides. Bloody good night.

Ian takes a 10% which drops him to third place allowing Mike to regain second place with plus 2%. Peter remains in fifth place but does gain a healthy 7.5%

Darts – March Dates Please Gents!

Tonight was the last February game so if you haven’t given me your March dates (check the fixtures list here), then please let me have them ASAP.

Tonight’s boys braving the cold to visit the hut were: Peter, Casablanca Mike, Rushers and Papa Fruin.

A quick flip pitched Ian and Peter (first time on the same team this year) against Papa and CM.

We managed to zip through eight games in the evening most being well contested. I can however announce there were clear winners for the evening with the final score line being PI 135678 / 24 PCM.

Notable Events:

A Couple of bull-semi turns.

Two storming catch-up games (one for each side) where the bull count to win each time was large around 10/11 – 3. Both times the trailing teams got within one or two semis before being cruelly beaten!

CM tried a new throwing technique, darts one and two - throw as normal, dart three - hurl at the board in disgust because you don’t like where one and two went... It could catch on!

Bull Wars: ‘Hurler’ 3, Peter 2, Ian 2, Papa 1.

Chart Changes:

Ian takes second place pushing CM down to third. Papa goes up one to sixth place knocking Doddy down to seventh position. Doddy will I am sure take comfort from still being ahead of ‘Jelly-leg’ Davies.

Darts - The Ghost Of Peter Past?

Tuesday night’s match was a three handed affair, I had hoped for four but trying to tie down Steve is more difficult than catching steam in a fishing net. The likely lads who put in an appearance were Peter, Dave and Ian.

After a couple of flips of the ‘flipometers’ the teams were decided as Peter ‘v’ Ian Dave. This was clearly a game that could go either way, but after my performance so far this season I wasn’t betting on a win for myself.

After the middle for diddle Pedros galloped away in the first game laying waste to a mightily surprised opposition. Actually Peds was pretty surprised himself. After that the second went the same way but not as dramatically as the first.

The third game was rather remarkable in that Dave and Ian started massacring Pierre from the start and were some 200 points ahead when it came to the bull shoot-out meaning that there was an 11 – 3 bull mountain to climb.

When Ian stuffed the final dart in the board to claim victory it was 1 – 1, another of those legendary catch-ups that we see now and then at Bad Boys.

After that Pete took the fourth and fifth, Dave and Ian the sixth and seventh leaving us with the possibility of a draw on the eighth. The final score line was P 12458 / 367 ID a 5 – 3 victory to Pedros.

Notable Events:

The major catch-up, already noted.

I believe all players had bull-semi turns if not all having bull-semi finishes.

Peter gained the second (Steve has the first) OTT: Order of the triple treble by hitting three treble thirteens in a turn, which all happened to be scoring.

Trebles all around, some dry patches for all however, Peds gets MOTM.

Bull Wars: Peter 6, Dave 5, Ian 1. Making Peds the Bullmeister for the evening despite the fact he had twice as many goes as the other players!

Chart Changes: Pete and Ian go up one place each and Dave goes down one.

Last week Dave was a little dismayed that the chart was originally published showing his position on the grid incorrectly. Don’t worry Dave I have double checked it this week and it definitely shows you in the correct place (behind Ian again).

I am so relieved to have won a few bloody games as you can probably tell!

A short and sweet report...

Attending bad boys were CM, Ian, Peter and Papa. A couple of flips teamed up Peter and Papa ‘v’ Ian and Casablanca.

The final score line was ICM 123578 / 46 PPA so a 6 – 2 victory to Mike and Val.

After a slow start all players managed to put in some good performances including Bull/Semi finishes for both teams, also a good amount of treble action was in evidence.

There was a fair amount of wit flying as well. Several players were seen to be laughing too much to throw their darts properly (well that was the excuse used anyway).

Chart Changes: None....

But the good news... Papa and my %s went up!

Darts – Everyone’s A Winner!

OK pop pickers despite the title of this week’s report it isn’t being written from the back seat of a Cadillac... Attending Bad Boys were Peter, Dave, CM, Doddy and Ian. We had a prompt start only requiring one flip of the flipping ometers.

Despite nonstop darts action we only managed to pack in six games before ten o’ clock. Possibly because there were quite a few rounds where few crosses were gained? Having said that there were periods of blinding darts where folks didn’t seem able to go wrong!

Anyway, the teams were Pete and Doddy (2nd pairing in 3 fixtures) ‘v’ Dave, Ian and CM. It was another one sided score line DICM 13456 / 2 PD. Although I will concede that DICM played better than us I reckon 2 – 4 would have been a fairer reflection of the night’s play.

In any event it was a good evening with plenty of banter and laughs. To be honest I can’t remember the details of standout darting events but certainly we all had a few and in particular CM and Doddy who take joint MOTM.

Bull Wars: Ian 2, Dave 1, CM 1, Pete 1, Doddy 1. Making Wushers Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes: Dave rockets in to fourth place with 83.33%! WooHoo! This of course pushes Doddy and I down to fifth and sixth place respectively. Having said that both Doddy and my %’s went up this week WooHoo! Although Ian and CM drop a little they are still at the top end of the chart Woohoo! John wasn’t able to make it this week and consequently stayed at 100% Woohoo!

Papa is back on next week, will his % reach escape velocity? Can I persuade Steve to turn up?

Darts – A new season: another week: a new leader!

The world of bad boys is a hard and swiftly moving place to be at the start of a new season, scream if you want to go faster!

Attending were Pete, Casablanca, Johnny Boy, Papa and Jelly Arm. A couple of flicks of the club coins sorted the teams as Mike and Stan ‘v’ Pedro, Papa and JA.

Pretty even teams you would have thought? I did, but for the second week on the trot one side delivered the other a good pasting. It pains me to tell you I was on the receiving end again!

CM and John took us to the cleaners with a seven 7 – 0 drubbing which of course looks like this: JCM 1234567 / W PPJA.

Notable Events:

In truth I can’t think of any, on the whole Mike and John played a reasonable game and were consistent throughout the evening earning them victory. Papa, Mike and (particularly) I were very patchy and below regular standards.

Both John and CM were quick on the bulls along with having a good number of trebles, often closing off several numbers before we could get a look in. None the less we all had a good evening and there was some good natured banter evident throughout proceedings. CM & J definitely deserved their win.

Bull Wars: CM 4, John 2, Papa 1 (Someone was keen enough to point out Papa’s bull while I was photographing the scoreboard!)

Chart Changes: Carnage and it is only the second week... Casablanca and John take equal first place with an unbeatable 100%, Forcing Ian down to third place with a mere 87.5%, Peter drops two places and after two matches has dropped to just over 6.5%! Papa and JA bring up the rear with 0%.

Well lads (my team) I hope we all fare better on our next outing!

Darts – Bad Boys 2010 gets started at last!

WooHoo! After two weeks of being snowed off we were finally able to get an evening’s darts in and what a top evening it was, particularly if you go by any of the following nick-names: Rushers, Mr Mush, Val, Moth-man or Foggy.

We had a quick flip of the flipometers and the result was that the teams were Pete and Doddy ‘V’ Ian. It was a three man evening; hombre on hombre and hombre, ‘oh er missus’.

Rushers took the honours right from the start almost whitewashing us on the night, yes folks Foggy took seven games before Doddy and I finally beat him in to submission on the last game of the evening. The final score line being Ian 1234567 / PD 8.

Notable Events:

In all the games that Ian won (bar one) Pete and Doddy Started off by taking a good lead often in excess of 100. We thrashed through the high numbers taking our score, however it seemed our game fell apart once we got to 16 and below. It was here that Rushers did all the damage that clinched his victories.

Rushers was bull-tastic for evening even managing to finish a game with a double bullseye. Talk of certificates and the like were quickly thwarted when it was pointed out this was good but certainly not a first. Now three bullseyes, that would get the whole shooting match, cheers, hi-fives, certificates, we are not worthy’s and the lot. Perhaps someone will finally do it this year?

Ian had a well deserved win and also bags MOTM.

Bull Wars: Ian 6, Peter 1. This makes Ian the first bull-meister of the year.

Chart Changes: The first chart shows Ian leading with a massive 87.5% this is the highest opening score since the beginning of the 2006 season.

It could take some time before anyone gets close to that top spot. Last year it took us several months to topple Papa from the lead position.

Ian Rushton - A Year in Bad Boys - 2009.

No I am not going through the whole year repeating things and events but I thought I might try and record a few reactions to a year’s darts in the hut.

I will try not to dwell on things that we all know, for example that Steve seldom turns up and that Papas rebounds have only drawn blood once so far but we are all terrified by the noise they make as they bounce off the board whilst we are walking away. Similarly the regular, but temporary, loss of Jelly Arm as he leaves the building to receive the talking to that he gives himself, and the occasional Redbond cry of ‘YeeeeeessssS’ as he hits a treble and explains to us all how he was going for it. How we all miss the machine gun like clatter of Casablanca’s darts hitting the floor as he vents his frustration with his own play. And we all know the severe stare of our host if one is judged to be straying into the area of behaviour classified as barracking. I certainly know the feeling one gets when ones attire for the evening draws a critique from Peter, and collects labels such as Val Doonican and Captain Birdseye.

One shouldn’t be hurt by the injustice of the label Moth Man for removing a moth from this life when it was in an area of the hut which could easily have caused a distraction to other occupants. After all the venue has an insectocutor running virtually all the time which destroys anything which is careless enough to stray into it. I often wonder what might be the outcome if one of Papas darts ventured in that direction.

Of course these are things that Peter includes in his regular weekly reports so I will not cover them here.

I feel that I should not spend time and words reflecting on my own performance at darts, after all Peter produces very good statistics week by week. This means that anyone who is interested would know that my %age of wins in 2007 was 57.4 and after playing virtually every week throughout 2008 I delivered 49.83%! Here I am after another full year of darts which has resulted in a much deserved improvement to 50.16%. I would of course resist any temptation I might feel to blame the many people that have partnered me in 2009. Anyway, as I said, one shouldn’t just go through a year’s darts looking at ones own results.

So, that is quite a lot of material being ruled inadmissible for this purpose and means that I need to look elsewhere for the content of this missive.

So perhaps I need a more general look at the years play? Things have certainly moved on. We regularly play 7 or 8 games in a 2 hour session and occasionally even 9, and therefore it is a worthwhile outing. It is always good to catch up with whatever is happening in our various lives, but there is seldom a need for any deeply serious conversation. Regardless of who partners who, the perceived abilities of the various individuals, it is seldom possible to predict the result of the evenings play, or for that matter a single game. The outcome is never really certain until it is over. They are all very competitive games, exciting on very many occasions, so that you can feel the tension in the hut and enjoy the highly charged atmosphere.

A Shang Hai is always worthy of note, some trebles can justify praise, double trebles usually come in for analysis, treble trebles are obviously very memorable but sadly I can’t remember one, even just a good close grouping of darts, especially if in a number under 10, and thrown by your opponents are praised extensively. Sometimes some unusual tactics will cause some debate and discussion. Of course, operating in the somewhat confined space of the hut a team cannot have a private discussion on tactics so inevitably the opposition join in and can even influence the outcome!

As a result one can face with confidence the fact that if you say to Papa ‘Some 18s would be good’ and he throws his darts at 17, you know that all is in fact well with the world.

When I get home and am asked the inevitable question ‘What did you talk about?’ I am able to say ‘Nothing’. In my view this is incontrovertible evidence of time well spent.

2009 Attendance.

Above is a chart of the attendance figures for the year, out of a possible 48 fixtures. As you can see we have a wide range of attendance from the ultra keen (Pete, Ian and CM) through to the lower attendees (Mr Average, Steve and Malc).

As you might know, yearend scores are only ‘official’ if you make 12 matches per year, a feat truly mastered by JA (otherwise known as Mr Average). Steve and Malc’s figures are therefore unofficial.

Malc only managed 2 matches this year and has therefore been thrown out of bad boys; had his darts broken over his knees; been stripped of all badges and insignia.

Only kidding... But as Malc is now permanently resident in Oxford, his chances of increasing attendance are slim and he has asked me to remove him from the roster for next year. Malc I would like to say on behalf of all the bad boys what a pleasure it was to play with you and better still against you! Love from us all.

Steve has no such excuse and says he wants to play again next year! Right then everybody hold your collective breath.....

Darts – The last match of the season!

The final lap of this year’s darts grand prix has been finished, the chequered flag waved and the results are in!

The last match took place on Tuesday 22nd December. I don’t intend to delve deeply in to the nuts and bolts, just give the result really! Teams were Ian and Doddy ‘v’ Pete, Casablanca and Dave.

We all had a lot of fun but although the laughs were shared the scores weren’t. The final score line was: PCMD 1234567 / W ID. So a 7 – 0 victory to PCMD

Bull Wars: Doddy 2, Ian 1, Peter 1, Dave 1 making Doddmeister the bullmeister.

Chart Changes: Well I said there could be changes right up to the last minute and how right I was! Due to Ian’s loss on the evening Papa bubbles up one place past Rushers to 3rd position. Dave, due to his win zooms two places up the leader board to 5th place!

Darts – T minus 1

Hi folks, we are almost at the end of the season, there is only one more match before the Bad Boys year end. Enough of next week, what happened this week I hear you ask?

This evening’s musketeers were: Pete, Ian, Mike-D and CM. After a couple or so flips the teams were decided as Jelly Arm and Rushers ‘v’ Pete and Casablanca Mike.

We set of on the first game in a very ragged fashion with all players looking like they needed to warm up, except Jelly Arm who decided he needed to cool down and immediately took himself out in to the frozen waste to give himself a good talking to. CM gave JA a good talking to as well because he left the hut door open on the way, boy was it cold out there!

Despite the poor start team PCM managed to bag the first game and then suffered a defeat in game two. We then had a good run from three to six, lost the seventh and took the eighth.

This leaves us with a score line of PCM 134568 / IJA 17 being a 6 – 2 victory to Casablanca and Pete.

I must point out that the score line in no way reflects the darts played for the evening; with the exception of two matches (one won by each team) that had considerable leads the others were all fairly close with the lead changing hands once or more in each game; exciting stuff.

I would go as far as to say a lot of the games were won or lost on tactics, often when one team made a decision to move on to open another number or not to chase the opposition they paid with blood. Two examples spring to mind Ian and JA left the 18s open in one game and CM and I managed to get a treble each along with some singles, stealing that game. In another CM and I were slow on the uptake with 17s and Jelly Arm had a field day scoring two treble 17s in a turn. Rushers was doing the similar on other numbers racking up shanghais and the like.

Notable Events:

In addition to the above JA managed a double semi and it was very nearly a triple, prompting him to enquire about certificates!

Lots of good darts played by all (along with some duffers of course); all things considered JA was MOTM for upping his game for the evening.

Chart Changes: Only one change, JA drops below John.

Darts - It must be nearly Xmas!

Even torrential rain can’t dampen the spirits of a hut full of Bad Boys!

It was a prompt start (for most of us), but actually getting going took a little longer than normal due to an unusual ‘flipping’ arrangement.

There were six of us to play and the first flip produced a two - four which meant the remaining four flippers had to get a one – three result; not an easy task as the statistically minded amongst you can imagine, it took the best part of a further dozen flips; but finally the teams were decided as:

Peter, Ian and Papa ‘v’ Dave, Doddy and Casablanca Mike. We only managed 6 games, but what a six games! Now I think some folks will argue about this but to me they all felt close even if the final scores didn’t reflect it, you never knew if you were safe until the winning darts was in the board. In any event they were all good fun and the final tally was: PIP 1356 / 24 DDCM a 4 - 2 victory to Peter, Ian and Papa.

As you can see the result is only one game away from a draw so no disgrace to the losing side!

Notable Events:

Far too many to remember both good and bad. Some highlights that did lodge in the brain were Rushsers having a bull semi combo, two or three folks having double semis.

Several shouts of ‘Bugger me that’s nine darts without a score’.

Pete scoring a double treble nineteen.

Lots of trebles, lots of rubbish turns. However through it all Casablanca Mike was probably the most consistent player of the evening and for that reason alone (being a pearl amongst swine) he deserves to be MOTM.

Unusually, some vicious barracking took place, apparently (cough) I was involved in cheering when CM failed to get a score, doesn’t sound like me I know, but seemingly it happened along with guff from other players.

Bull Wars: Slim pickings tonight: Peter 2, Ian 1, CM 1. Making Pedros the minimalist bullmeister of the week.

Chart Changes: Not a sausage, however there is a definite scrap on for second place! The gap between Ian and Casablanca Mike closed by about 0.7% this week, leaving the gap at 0.62% which means a similar result next week could see Ian and Mike swap places... Will Jelly Arm be able to maintain his 0.08% lead over John?

Darts – I can read you know!

A cold and wet Tuesday evening, what better way to cheer yourself up than some serious dart action in the bad boys hut!

The hut had been rather cold when I opened it for the evening, only 4°C, thankfully a quick blast of the halogen heater had the room up to a bearable 12°C when we got started.

Dave was unable to play as he had sustained an infection / injury to his ear caused by either an eight ball off a cushion or the insertion of a cue in his lug-hole, in any event Dave decided to blame the whole thing on his ‘pool’ man, bloody unfair if you ask me. This left Pete, Ian and CM to slug it out. After a single flip of the flipometers the teams were decided as CM ‘v’ Pete and Ian.

We launched in to an eight game extravaganza. Mike steamed comfortably through the first three games, particularly the first one where Ian and I were massacred. Thankfully we then took a couple and a little more ping ponging until we had a final score line of CM 1236 / 4578 PI

In the early games Casablanca was thumping every available treble, building score and typically getting a pair of semi’s in his first turn at the centre. Thankfully Pete and Ian’s lacklustre performance started to pick up as the evening went on and of course CM was throwing twice as many darts as us, so he began to tire allowing the opposition to cash in on scores!

Notable Events:

Mike had a stunning amount of trebles and regular double semis.

Mike scored 7 x 19 ‘Nice’.

All players had double semi turns.

It was agreed we were all able to see what was on the scoreboard.

Bull Wars: CM 2. Peter 1, Ian 1. This makes CM the evening’s bullmeister and I suspect MOTM.

Chart Changes: None All players % went down slightly!

There may still be room for change with another three fixtures before the end of the season. I am particularly interested to see what happens at Jelly Arm’s next appearance as he and John are still only a gnat’s cock apart.

Darts - Peds and Rushers go head to head!

Due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control we ended up with just two players in the hut on Tuesday night, but Pete and Ted were fearless and decided to press on with a full scoring Bad Boys event.

No need for the flipometers this evening two teams, two players, even Jelly Brain could have organised us!

I managed to get a bull on the ‘Middle for Diddle’ which seems to have been an indicator of how the first game would go! I tanked through the game with trebles galore racking up plenty of score along the way. If I sound excited, well I am I played that first game like an unstoppable darts machine!

I managed to take the next two games (not as convincingly it has to be said) and then the inevitable happened, the Mothman took the fourth game. Back to me for the fifth and sixth then Rushers took the seventh and we ping ponged on the eighth and ninth.

Which compresses down to a score line of Peter 123568 / 479 Ian. A 6 – 3 win to the pedmeister.

Five of the games were close and went to the wire causing quite a lot of excitement, gnashing of teeth etc. So a fun evening despite only being a gruesome twosome.

Notable Events:

Both players had some excellent treble and bull / semi action, forcing each other to often change tactics.

Pete had two ‘belting’ games where it was hard to put a dart in the wrong place.

Nine games were played, only the third time this year.

Bull Wars: Peter 4, Ian 2. Peter was therefore the bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes: None just some minor % changes.

Darts – Time for the club to change its name?

Greeting Bad Boys and Bad Boys Followers. I am considering whether or not we need to change the club name. As you probably know the B.A.D. in BAD BOYS CLUB stands for Beer And Darts, well after last night there is a good bloody chance that I might make it stand for ‘Beer, Alzheimer, Darts’!

First off Jelly Arm (or perhaps that should be jelly brain) throws the first darts of the evening; hitting a one, twenty and a five, wanders up to the scoreboard and chalks up zero crosses but a score of 275! It seems that the poor fellow hasn’t noticed over the last couple of years that we have never ever played a single round of 301! It has always been (and always will be) Mickey Mouse.

Following this Val Doonican swore blind that CM had been here at the start of the evening despite the fact he was given a good ribbing for arriving a little late. JB also decided that the dart board he has been playing on since the first week of July had been acquired since his last visit.

Thankfully after these incidents things returned pretty much to normal so I will hold off on the name change for the moment.

The teams as flipped were Dave, Papa, CM ‘v’ Peter, Ian, JA.

DPCM whipped ahead in the first game scoring a substantial win. They looked to be doing the same in the second as well although PIJA started to close gap and eventually moved marginally ahead on score. We had an extraordinary finish to game two. PIJA required three semis to win and DPCM four, Papa stepped up to the oche and whacked in a bull and semi, it looked like they had the game in the bag. Fortunately Ian was next to the oche and he had other ideas, pumping a bull and semi in to win the game. One side roared with delight, the other looked gutted!

Following this a very fired up CM started game three with a hat full of twenties and his team went on to take the game, the opposition took the next two games and then they won the final leg. This made the final score line DPCM 136 / 245 PIJA – a draw!

Notable events:

Apart from those already listed there were a few good scoring turns.

Dave was back in the hut! Nice to see you back at the oche again Dave.

Bull Wars: Papa 2, CM 2, Peter 1, Ian 1.

Chart Changes: As it was a draw everyone moves a little closer to the 50% mark, causing JA to just overtake John in the process!

Darts – It’s never over until you hear the fat lady singing.

Sadly Dave missed his advertised return match due to a disgusting cold (but he will be playing next week!). This meant the players for the evening were Peter, Casablanca Mike, Rushers and Doddy.

What an exciting evening it was! After a couple of flips the teams panned out as Pete and Ian ‘v’ Doddy and CM. We launched straight in to the games and immediately Pete and Ian seemed to be doing rather well with trebles galore.

We had a winning streak that lasted half way through the evening, for a minute or two I thought this was the way it would continue for the rest of the night, but as is quite often the case in the hut (and as predicted by Doddy to a despondent CM) it would be ‘a game of two halves’, and it was!

The next four games all went to the two Mikes giving us a final score line of: PI 1234 / 5678 DCM.

Notable Events:

In the first few games it was noted that Pete and Ian couldn’t be bothered with single numbers, preferring trebles on most occasions. The same could be said of the opposition in the later games.

There were some excellent ‘replies’ on a number of occasions as all hopes of a score on a quickly opened number were dashed by the opposition with a single dart.

Peter managed a scoring double treble (16s I think) putting them nicely back in a game they were losing.

A lot of bulls and semis were produced by all involved.

Ian and Pete nearly stole game 7 on bulls and semis, being 200+ they decided to go for the middle and collateral and it almost paid off with a swift succession of semis, bulls and bull-semi turns. Casablanca sealed the game with a bull. We all agreed it was incredibly close and one of the tensest games we had played for a long time.

Doddy and Pete had some stonking runs of darts and I have accordingly awarded them joint MOTM.

Bull Wars: Peter 3, Ian 3, CM 3, Doddy 2.

Chart Changes: None! We all go down a little bit except Doddy who gains the best part of 1%.

Darts – Val Doonican in da hut!

Attending were Pete, CM, John, Ian and Papa (missing, Steve, surprise surprise).

A quick flip set the teams as Casablanca Mike, John boy and Papa against the old crew members Pete and Ian.

Ian set the tone for the evening by bagging himself a bully during the ‘middle for diddle’. We then moved on to take the first game, lost the second and had a good run until the eighth which went to CM and company. This resulted in a final score line of PI 134567 /28 CMJP a 6 – 2 victory to Pete and Ian.

Notable Events:

The aforementioned MFD!

The evening was unusual in that for 75% of the games Ian and Pete were playing catch-up on some great starts and high scores by the other team. As the score line shows though we managed to steal those thanks mainly to good bull work. It has to be said the losing side were not overly hot on the centre allowing us to take the lead!

Mushers was doing a stunning Val Doonican impersonation with a cardigan previously owned by the man himself.

Val, for my money was Man (and cardigan) Of The Match.

Bull Wars: Peter and Ian 3 each.

Chart changes: None but it is now a close thing between CM and Ian, another half decent result for Ian will put him back in second place.

Next week Dave is back in the hut!

Darts – Bad Boys enjoy ‘Threesome’ Shock Horror!

What can I say? I know it sounds like a Sun headline but it is true. Three Bad boys were up in the hut raring to go. Pete, Ian and Doddy had a quick toss to decide who was going to play with who, it ended up that Pete and Doddy were going to team up on Ian and see if we could thrust our points where they matter the most.

Pete and Doddy were first to be on top but then Ian slid up from behind showing a massive lead in the second game. Doddy and Pete then had a bit of double win action taking the third and fourth games. We were getting quiet excited then Rushers licked us in the fifth, sixth and seventh. We played an eighth game but no one came first as it was a complete draw - 303 all. The final score line was: PD 134X / 2567X I, making a 4 – 3 victory to Ian.

Right, that should get our porn rating back up!

Notable events:

In my humble opinion I think all players had plenty of hot patches, generally the night’s darts were of a high standard. Doddy punched above his weight for the evening and is MOTM.

There were several ‘double trebles’ thrown and virtually all were scoring. This meant that the lead was often changing hands in our games, bloody exciting stuff.

Plenty of bull and semi action from everyone, no waiting around ages for a game to finish.

Rushers actually managed to finish the final game with a double bull. This was a very important throw and not only did it mean that game was a draw but it also stopped the whole evening’s competition being a draw and snuck Ian a victory.

Bull Wars: Ian 5, Peter 2, Doddy 2. Moth-man is the bull-meister for the evening.

Chart changes: Ian’s win bagged him a 0.15% increase, tiny – but enough for him to grab a 0.02% lead over Papa! Ian moves up to third place.

No doubt these guys will be vying for position again next week.

Darts – The Charts are like Musical Chairs!

Tonight’s bad boys, Peter, Mike, Ian, Papa and JA. Steve was a no show (Bad Bad Boy – Steve!)

A little flipping produced teams of Pete, Ian and JA ‘v’ CM and Papa.

It all started off rather gentlemanly with CM and Papa Taking the odd numbered games and the opposition taking the even numbers. Then Papa and CM decided to stop playing ball and play darts, this resulted in them grabbing the final two games, otherwise known as a 5 - 2 victory.

The final score Line: CMP 13567 / 24 PIJA.

Notable Events: Ian and Peter played badly for most of the night; Jelly Arm was our best man for the evening. Sorry we weren’t more support Mike!

CM had a bull semi finish, Pete had a Double Semi, Papa, Ian and Mike had some serious scoring triples at various points in the evening.

Pete played a disgusting ‘sneeze’ prank that had us laughing quite a lot.

Bull Wars: CM 2, Papa 2, Ian 1. = No Bullmeister for the night.

Chart Changes: Mike-D and John swap positions again! Seems like a ‘Strictly’ dance is going on between those two. Papa’s second 5 -2 victory in a row sees him go up to third place, pushing Mothman down to fourth position.

There is only 0.13% between Papa and Ian third place will be hotly contested over the next few weeks. CM is still in with a shot at first place if he can get a few more weeks on the winning side.

Darts – A Short Report!

I am going to keep it short and sweet this week. I could make it longer but it would cause unnecessary pain to a couple of Bad Boys.

Attending: Peter, Papa (thanks for playing an extra fixture), Doddy and Ian.

Two flips and the teams were: Peter and Papa ‘v’ Ian and the Doddmeister. We managed to get through seven games with the score line PP 12347 / 56 ID, making a 5 – 2 victory to Pete and Papa.

Notable events: there were quite a lot of trebles, some double semis and a few bulls but nothing really unusual.

Probably more notable were the patches of bad play! Generally it has to be said that P&P played better than the opposition who were not at all happy with their performance for the evening!

Bullwars: Doddy 2, Papa 2, Peter 2, Ian 1. So no Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes: None, a few dips and rises Papa being the main beneficiary for the evening with 1.16% gain. Can he do the same again next week?

Darts – Jelly Arm Firms Up!

The Bad Boys on the starting blocks this evening were: Peter, Ian, Papa and Mike-D (AKA JA).

A couple of flips sorted the teams as Pete and JA ‘v’ Ian and Papa. We launched in to eight quick fire games that were very hard fought making a tough and exciting evening’s darts.

The final score line was PJA 15678 / IPAPA 234 almost making a classic Bad Boys game of two halves.

All the players had good and bad patches. When they were bad they were very very bad and when they were good they were excellent! I would have to single out JA for starting off a bit rubbery armed in the first game but from then on firming up nicely until he might need renaming ‘Rock Arm’ for my money he was MOTM.

Notable Events:

All players had double semis.

Papa had a bull semi

Ian had a double bull (Once again the treble bull evades us, but it will happen and Rushers could well be the man to do it).

JA had a double treble (scoring).

Papa had a double treble with a single on 17’s (scoring).

And there were some Shanghai’s floating around as well.

Bull Wars: Ian 3, Papa 2, JA 1, Peter 0. Making Ian Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes:

Only one change, JA move up from sixth place to fifth, displacing John. Pete’s % moves up a miniscule 0.17%, Ian drops a shade over half a %, Papa drops a shade over 0.8%. Rock arm takes a whopping 2.01% increase!

At the end of three quarters of the season played things are shaping up as follows:

Peter appears to have quite a decent lead and is going to have to take a good hammering to be dislodged from the top spot over the twelve remaining fixtures (This is still possible in my humble opinion). Ian and CM are going to duke it out for second and third place.

There is hot competition midfield between Papa, Mike-D and John. Dave will be making a re-appearance in early November and could set the cat amongst the pigeons as due to a relatively low attendance record this year a couple of wins under his belt would catapult his % upwards!

The same is true for Steve, who is still within striking distance of Doddy. So as usual it is GAME ON!

Darts – When the going gets tough...

Tonight’s Bad Boys were Peter, Casablanca Mike, Teddy and Doddy.

After a little practice we had a prompt start and set about the games with vengeance.

Ian and I took the first two games, The Mikes bagged the second two. After this there was some frantic ping-ponging, the dust finally settled to reveal a 5 – 3 victory to Ian and Peds. Score Line: PI 12578 / 346 CMD.

Most games were close with one side or another tending to get a good head start and then quite often having the lead stolen in the later stages of the game. Great games though, tough opponents and very exciting / nerve racking to play!

Notable Events:

Teddy had a bull semi finish.

Everyone had at least one scoring Shanghai, although for some reason certain players were referring to it as a ‘Shag-me’.

The losing team romped the bull count.

Bull Wars: CM 3, Doddy 3, Ian 1, Peter 0.

Chart Changes:

None! Pete and Ian’s %s went up a smidgen 0.18% & 0.34% respectively. Amazingly Doddy’s % went up by the smallest amount we normally register 0.01%! CM was the only casualty dropping by modest 0.69%.

There is still plenty to fight over in the rankings, and there may well be a few twists to unfold before the end of the season!

Darts – The Night of the Dart Juggler!

The nights are drawing in quite fast; sadly summer is over it seems, even at a quarter to eight as I kick started the hut ready for Bad Boy habitation the ambient light was fading fast. No problem, the hut perimeter lights are up to the job!

First on the scene (after P-resident Petro) was Monsignor Moth followed by Camp-Man, oops sorry I mean Camp-a-van -Man! Soon after; born again Bad Boy Freshwater-Fish-Steve arrived to make up the quorum.

Post flipometer the teams were Peter and Ian ‘v’ Casablanca Mike and Steve which I consider to be a reasonable flip.

The first leg went to Peds and Rushers as did the second and third, I hate to mention it but I must! One of those was a whitewash. Steve and CM fought back and took the fourth, missed the fifth but took the sixth, faded a little as Getitonbangagong and Ian took the seventh and eight games.

This left us with a score line of PI 123578 / W46 CMS. I would be the first to say that although I think Ian and I played the better darts on the night I don’t believe that a 6-2 victory accurately reflects the evening’s play, somewhere nearer to a draw would better reflect Mike and Steve’s performance.

Notable Events:

CM I believe (I think I may have been outside of the hut or distracted) scored a Bull / Semi combo to steal a game.

CM also had a few problems with dart fallout, for some reason tonight quite a few of his darts were not sticking. His first attempts to save the situation involved him skidding up the rubber mat to the board and making athletic grabs at the errant darts, some successful, some not. However his pièce de résistance was running up to the board and grabbing multiple darts as they fell out, he looked like somebody juggling darts!

I think Steve played some excellent darts and as has always been the case MOTM is not just awarded for the best darts of the night but to the player who exceeds their regular playing level on the evening, for me Steve deserves the award for tonight and I might also add that the MOTM chart shows Steve as top dog… It appears that he doesn’t turn up a lot but plays well when he does!

Bull Wars: Peter 2, Ian 2, CM 1. No Bullmeister tonight!

Chart Changes: Not a sausage! However the difference between CM and Ian now drops from last week’s 3.5% to less than 1.5% currently these two are a battle to watch! Doddy returns next week and Steve is his nearest rival, it would be interesting to get these two in the hut on opposite teams.

Darts – One of those nights!

I am going to try and keep the report short and sweet.

It was wet and horrible outside the hut tonight but we still managed to muster Pete, Ian, CM and Papa. After a quick practice and a couple of ‘flips’ the teams were: Pete and CM ‘v’ Ian and Papa.

We launched in to the games at a hectic pace managing to comfortably finish eight before 10pm.

Folk’s play throughout the evening was variable and folk’s opinions of their own play were variable and not always the same as other players would have rated them!

Over the evening a pattern started to emerge, bluntly the pattern was that Pete and CM were winning most games, however they had to generate a large lead to secure a win because when the games came to the closing stages both Papa and particularly Ian were belting home the bulls and semis. In many games without the cushion we would have been pipped at the post.

There wasn’t much to choose between the teams in the first few games but in the later contests PCM dominated making a final score line of: PCM 134678 / IPAPA 25

Notable Events:

For the first time ever I think I am posting a ‘scoreboard’ without the final game on, I think MC must have wiped the scores expecting to play a ninth, thankfully it still has the main details included!

Quite a lot of trebles, shanghais, the odd rebound and drop out but absolutely no rubbers, hurrah!

Chart Changes: None, Pete and CM bunch closer together, only 0.12% between them. Ian and Papa both drop slightly but retain their relative positions. The other major battle going on is at the other end of the scoreboard between Doddy and Steve. I am hoping this will evolve over the next few weeks!

Darts – The Return Of The Prodigal Son!

I couldn’t help but feel there were some religious overtones to tonight’s darts gathering. Firstly in the morning I spoke to Papa who told me he was too far away to play tonight, which meant we had lost a bad boy in the wilderness. Then it rained and rained and rained, the water levels were rising and as I stood outside the hut this evening looking at its wooden majesty through even more tumultuous rain I couldn’t help but think it was perhaps a little like Noah’s Ark sat upon the top of the hill waiting to float away.

Next a pair of bad boys entered the ark; Doddy and Rushers. The three of us were just about to set sail to the land of Mickey Mouse when a miracle happened. Another person came scampering up the ladder and collapsed wet, exhausted and dartless. It was Steve, the prodigal son had returned after eleven weeks in the wilderness.

After some inevitable piss taking the teams were ready for action: Pete and Doddy ‘v’ Ian and Steve.

We set off at a fair lick and although the first few games were well contested Peds and the Doddmeister managed to crack off the first three bouts. Ian and Steve had definitely been getting the bit between their collective teeth and although they narrowly missed the third they were bang on for the fourth, they looked like taking the fifth but it went to the opposition.

Mothy and Pikey then took the sixth game and were looking favourites for the seventh but after their early lead Petronius and Mike took the honours.

This produced a final score line of: PD 12357 / 46 IS

Notable Events:

Doddy had a double Bull! Ian and Pete had double Semis. I think there was a bull + semi as well but can’t remember who it was, may even have been me.

There were several Shanghais, Both Ian and Steve had double trebles.

For the first time in a couple of years we found a game anomaly that requires a new ‘local rule’ to be declared. Either Pete or Doddy failed to put a line through a number after they knocked it off. Consequently Steve played for the number thinking it was still live, after a bit of discussion he re-threw the dart that he had thrown at the dead number.

I reckon this is the first time we have had this happen and it not be noticed before throwing, we have had folks fail to put a cross up before but it hasn’t really affected the game. To make sure that it can’t happen again please observe the following...

Local Rule: When checking the scoreboard before your turn take a look at the number of crosses on both sides of a number, if you see six crosses without a line through it is still off as both sides have scored three hits. It is the number of crosses that take precedence not the line.

Bull Wars: Doddy 3, Peter 2, Ian 1, Steve 1. This makes Doddy the bullmeister and after an excellent evening’s darts MOTM.

Chart Changes: Pete gains a half % putting him back in the top spot, which moves CM down to second. Ian drops just under 1% but stays in third place. Doddy jump up 2.5%! Steve drops around 2%, This means that Steve and Doddy swap places, The Doddmeister moving up to eighth place.

A top evening, a pleasure to see Steve in the hut again and that’s about it until next week!

Darts – The Power Struggle!

It was a lovely summers evening as I awaited the arrival of the bad boys who were playing tonight. First up was CM followed by John, then Doddy and close behind the Moth Killer. Well, when I say it was a lovely summers evening I mean outside of the hut of course, inside the hut it was slightly gloomy, why I hear you ask?

As is often traditional in these parts of Nailsworth we are regularly (but the first time during a darts fixture) treated to a power cut for no apparent reason. So when the lads arrived the hut was lit with night light candles much like Santa’s Grotto!

Obviously the dartboard needed proper illumination; this was taken care of (dimly but just about adequately) by lodging a torch in the rafters and aiming it at the board. We managed one and a half games like this before the power returned. Notably we ALL had to walk to the board to double check our scores before we were sure what we had got and (I at least) had to ask partners to tell me what was on the scoreboard!

Anyway, on to the darts proper from the start! We flipped and then peered in the candlelight to find that the first flip of the flipometers had chosen teams of Peter, Casablanca and the Doddmeister ‘v’ Mothston and Livingstone.

Rushers and Johnny boy wasted no time in pilling on the agony in the first round leaving us several bulls behind, however we nearly caught the buggers and in the end they only won by a semi. This was more often than not the way of the evening with many matches hard fought and down to the wire. That said Ian and John played better and deserved to win, John was particularly consistent and earned himself MOTM (second time in a row).

The final score line was IJ 1235 / 46 PCMD.

Notable Events: Playing in the friggin’ dark! Hats off to all the Bad Boys for just getting on with it despite the poor conditions.

Several folks had double treble scoring throws and I believe john and CM managed bull-semi turns and john a double semi.

Rushers splatted another moth, so the hut now has a second winged Turin Shroud.

Bull Wars: CM 2, Doddy 2, Peds 1.

Chart Changes: None, some gaps narrow, but not enough to make a move.

Darts – A Rum Tale?

Another exciting and entertaining evening was had at Bad Boys, the turns for the evening were Pete, Papa, John, Doddy and Wushers. One flip of the flipometers decided that Papa, Ian and John would challenge Doddy and Peter.

This seemed like a remarkably interesting pairing when you consider that Doddy and I represent both ends of the (active) player charts and that Ian, Papa and John are third, fourth and fifth respectively, what would happen with the evening’s honours?

Well I knew what I thought would happen; Doddy and I would get a sound thrashing! Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t a slur by me on Doddy’s potential performance for the night. I had seen my own practice session and the results were grim! Anyway, we girded our loins and prepared for action.

Speaking of loins Papa has a very strange object as a key ring fob, it looks like some gruesome, grubby, decomposing testicle. However Papa insists that it is a well worn miniature rugby ball. Take a look for yourself if you get a chance, just ask Papa for a look at his funny shaped ball. I digress.

We cracked in to the first game and much to my amazement Mr D and I won it! We congratulated ourselves on avoiding a whitewash and moved on to the second game. This was duly taken by Papa and company. Doddy and I found ourselves having to celebrate again as we took the third game. Ian’s mob took the fourth game. By the end of the fifth game Mike and I were looking at each other in disbelief as we had bagged a third game. John’s team then took the sixth game; clearly they wanted all the even numbers! Then they got greedy and took an odd numbered game as well.

This left us with a final score line of PD 135 / 2467 PPIJ being a 4-3 victory to Papa, Ian and John.

I think it is fair to say that all the players had some very useless moments as well as flashes of absolute brilliance!

Notable Events:

Some criminal darts from Pete and Doddy, you would have thought we had been on the rum with some throws.

Several players had scoring Shang-hi’s

Several players had Bull-Semi finishes

John had a three semi turn, along with the previous items I think this probably entitles him to be MOTM.

Chart Changes: I am knocked off the top spot leaving CM back in first place. Ian and Papa improve their %’s very modestly. Doddy and John improve by half a %+. So, no massive shake-ups this week.

Darts – Another Bad Boy First!

Greeting pop pickers, another gloriously exciting evening’s darts, along with a highly anticipated first (no not the triple bull!), but more of that later.

It was a horrible rainy evening but that didn’t stop the four assigned conquistadors arriving ready to do battle. Pedros had opened the base camp and was duly joined by Johnny Boy, Jelly Shirt, and The Rushers.

Jelly arm managed to add yet another jelly variation to His Jelly Arm, Jelly Brain franchise by turning up with a lump of jizz style jelly on his shirt. Gentlemen, we give you ‘Jelly Shirt!’

After a bit of Forest Green banter from JN and JS we broke out the flippers and in no time at all we had sides of Peter and Rushers ‘v’ John and Jizz Shirt.

Mr Jelly was daft enough to ask all assembled if they thought he had been hard done by for not getting a certificate last week for gross misconduct (or great darts as he still seems to believe they were). After he was given short shrift by all he thankfully settled down and was ready to play some darts.

The middle for diddle went to Pete and Ian, despite getting first crack the initial game went to John and Mike, the second and third went to Peds and the Moth Man.

Then something rather stunning happened. The next game was an absolute draw, I believe the first in Bad Boy history, we have been close before but this was the real thing. Both sides had a score of 222 points, (John and Mike had been behind on score but had caught up on bulls while Ian and I were trying to finish our required three crosses). This meant that we couldn’t score and the best we could do was force a draw before J&M could win by hitting a scoring semi. We were lucky enough to get one in forcing the game to be discounted from the evening’s tally. Ian and Peds went on to take the next two games making the evening’s score line: JJS 1X / 23X45 PI, being a 4 – 1 victory to PI

It has to be said that John and Mike were very unlucky not to claim the drawn game and one or two others, again this week most games were hotly contended and came down to bulls.

Darts – Jelly Arm goes Jelly Brained!

Greetings Bad Boys and Darts Enthusiasts! It was a four handed game this evening, on the starting blocks were Pete, John, Papa and Jelly Arm. We all had a bit of practice and then let fly the flipometers; they immediately chose Pete and Mike-D ‘V’ Stanley and Papa.

We proceeded to work our way through eight games and by god they were close games! Six of the eight games came down to one semi to win finishes, another had twenty-eight points in it, the first game was the only one with a decent margin, so very hard fought and exciting bouts.

Jelly Arm and Peter were quick off the mark and managed to take three games on the trot and were beginning to eye up a big score for the evening (although in truth we knew it was probably only a matter of time before it became a game of two halves; as they say). Papa and John broke our winning streak by taking the fourth, luckily we then scrabbled back to the top of the pile for the fifth, after that the honours were taken in turns, giving a final score line of PMD 12357 / JP 468 securing Pete and Jelly Arm a 5 – 3 victory.

As you can see it could easily have gone either way, but JA and I just managed to keep our noses in front enough to claim a couple of extra games, mind you we were made to work hard for it!

Papa had a bull-semi finish

Jelly Arm went Jelly Brained on 11’s and 14’s - Absolutely bizarre, the 14’s were dead Papa and John were holding three elevens, we had two and it was JA’s turn. He stepped up to the oche and planted his first dart in the treble eleven. Mere mortals would have felt it was time to move on particularly as we were trailing a little, but not Jelly Brain, he planted his second dart in the treble eleven, not satisfied with this he then pierced the treble with his third arrow! Having bagged nine elevens, (eight of which were worth fuck all to us) the cheeky bugger asked me if he would be getting a certificate for his efforts, with much pleasure I had to decline!

Well, that moment of madness apart I have to say it was a real pleasure to partner JB for the evening, he played some excellent darts with only a couple of self-talking-to’s.

Bull Wars: Papa 3, Peter 3, John 2, JB 2. No bullmeister tonight, but a five a side tally!

Chart Changes: Mike-D gained a hefty 2.5% which moves him up to fifth position swapping places with John. Both Papa and John lose about 0.8% on the night while Peter increases by a minute 0.3% leaving him around half a % behind CM.

Darts – Sometimes nothing goes right.

After a heavy days rain the clouds finally lifted and we had what passes for a summer’s evening. Bang on eight Doddy and Ian arrived closely followed by Casablanca Mike. After a couple of flips the teams were decided as Pete and CM ‘v’ Ian and Doddy.

We launched in to a seven game evening which it has to be said was very one sided. Ian and Doddy only managed to get in to their stride a couple of times and when they did it was too late to capitalise on, consequently the final score line was ID W/1234567 PCM.

As much as CM and I were happy to get the games under our belt we certainly had sympathy for Ian and Mike, we have all been on the receiving end of a thrashing and it can be very frustrating. Undoubtedly though the tables will be turned another week!

Notable events:

Doddy had a spectacular turn: Dart one in the semi, dart two in the rubber, dart three in the semi! I think that has to be a first.

I believe Ian, CM and Pete all had a bull semi turn and CM also had another three semi turn.

Bull Wars: Ian 2, CM 2, Peter 2 so no bullmeister this week.

Chart Changes: CM and Pete move up one place each to first and second respectively which pushes Ian in to third place.

One evening still has the ability to make significant changes to the leader board so there is still plenty of time for things to change before the season is over, so it is definitely...

Darts – Tickets Please! ALL CHANGE, ALL CHANGE!

I opened up the Bad Boys station just before eight to be ready for the passengers arriving to take a trip on the darts express. First on the platform was Casablanca Mike, followed by John and Ian. We made ourselves comfortable in the first class carriage and just before the darts express pulled out Papa bounded up the escalator and leapt aboard. Toot Toot! We were on our way.

We flipped our tickets to see what the seating arrangements were and they turned out to be Pete, Ian and CM on one side of the carriage and Papa and John on the other.

There were eight stops on the journey, by the time we reached the first station Papa and John had steamed ahead with a score of over three hundred points leaving them in the first class carriage and the rest of us travelling in the cheap seats. Mind you we deserved it as we played miserably. We did improve though and kicked john and Papa out of first class at the second station and didn’t let them back in until the seventh stop, however they were shunted back to cattle class by the time we reached our final destination.

This gave us a final score line of JP 17 / PICM 234568 putting us on track for a 6 – 2 win at Victoria Station.

Notable Events:

Generally Players were either rubbish or spot on. I reckon we all had spells of both, thankfully the rubbish periods didn’t last too long, however this means there was no MOTM.

Ian managed a treble semi turn and was soon followed in another game by John taking a bull and two semis, he then followed it up the next turn with a bull and semi, damn fine darts in anyone’s books.

Papa had a bit of trouble with darts falling out. On one turn as he went to take them out of the board one fell to the ground, as he began picking it up another fell and nearly skewered him, then as he picked up the second the third fell out! I think he might have got a flesh wound from that one. It appears the new dartboard likes sharp darts; please feel free to make use of the dart sharpener in the hut if you start suffering from dropsy!

Bull Wars: A reasonable haul tonight. John 3, CM 3, Ian 2, Peter 1.

Chart Changes:

Papa’s season ticket at the head of the queue has expired! He is currently residing in carriage number four. Ian, CM and Pete having dined extensively in the buffer car for the evening all made their way up one position to first, second and third places respectively. John stayed put despite taking a 2% hit.

A quick look at the %’s will show you there is plenty of scope for more changes for all passengers so it is definitely GAME ON!

Darts: The Struggle To Win!

I don’t know if it was the weather, the alignment of planets or the onset of swine fever but when the Bad Boys gathered for the evening’s match everyone seemed very laid back, almost horizontal. We all fancied a win but I am not sure anyone was ‘driven’.

Anyway, after Pete, John , Doddy and Rushers climbed the steps to the hallowed hut, we stood around to shoot the breeze for a bit then we decided to meander inside and flip the flippers for teams. Eventually the flipping resulted in Rushers and Stan ‘v’ Pete and the Doddmeister.

We surveyed the new equipment (courtesy of the chalk warriors), a new ‘Bulls - Premium - Advantage II’ Dartboard with extra thin wires / dividers, A spanking new old school blackboard rubber and a couple of chalk trays (left and right) for easier chalking. I liked the board a lot (but not all were as enamoured on first use), I think we need to reserve judgment on it until everyone has had a few games. The rest of the kit however seemed to be widely approved.

The games were started in earnest and IJ took the first honours comfortably. Pete and Doddy were clearly concerned enough to take the second and third games, however Ian and John were not going to let us have it all our own way and took the fourth. PD rose again to take the fifth but could not manage the sixth which went to Ian and John. This produced a 3 - 3 draw with the final score line being IJ 146 / 235 PD. You can tell how laid back it was, we only managed six games!

Notable Events:

John re-enacted one of JA’s most notorious crimes by wandering off in to the garden to organise a cricket match on his mobile while the rest of us contemplated the points of our darts. Bloody cricketers, he nearly got nine darts in his back.

On a more positive note (cricket arrangements out of the way) John managed to gain his second three semis in a turn – well done sir!

Generally we all played some very lax darts but there were flashes of brilliance with some heavy treble scoring, particularly from Pete and Doddy although these were mostly negated later in the games when Ian and John were trebling as well or piling semis and bulls on to the score sheet to erode any leads.

Oh and Doddy wore a very fetching pink blouse, I must say it was super crisp and immaculately presented, we all agreed he looked gorgeous in it (that’s how good it was, honest).

Bull Wars: Peter 3, John 3 and Ian 2 (nearly all of these were scored in the second half of the evening).

Chart Changes: Not a sausage! Zilch, Nada, SFA, BA, Nuffin’, Nowt.... All players except Doddy were dragged down marginally by the result. Mr Pink however bagged himself just over a 1% rise, good effort Doddy and well played.

This means that Papa is still top of the table but still has Ian snapping at his heals, mere mortals lower down the table await one or both the dynamic duo to have a bad result and throw us some crumbs to feed on.

Darts - Fashionistas, Papa is all the rage!

It was a hot night in the hut. I put the fan on full blast a couple of hours before the match started but the temperature would not budge below 22c. As the evening went on it got hotter 25c+ But I am getting ahead of myself!

The Bad Boys present were (as usual in order of arrival) Peter (resident so always first it has to be said!), Casablanca, Mickey D, the Rushmeister and Papa.

We took a few minutes for practice, greetings and general banter before resorting to the flipometers who declared on the first toss that I was Bily no mates, however the second toss teamed me up with Mike-D (J.A.) and Papa... Leaving Rushers and Casablanca as the default opposition.

The defaulters wasted no time in taking the first game. BUT We weren’t going to let that hold us back so we immediately responded by taking the second. BUT the defaulters weren’t going to let that hold them back so they immediately took the third game. BUT we weren’t going to let that hold us back so we immediately took the fourth game..... Then the story changes somewhat. Starting off nicely with PMDP taking the fifth, but sadly that was to be our last and ICM (In-Continent Missile) drubbed us by taking sixth, seventh and eight.

Our only consolation was that it wasn’t an easy victory, but I have to say that both Ian and CM played more consistently and deserved to win, the bastards. This meant the final score line was ICM 13678 / PMDP 245 a 5 -3 victory to ICM.

Notable Events:

JA and Papa both had double semi turns, Papa’s would have been a treble semis but he suffered a bounce out.

Ian and Casablanca both managed a bull semi turn. JA managed a six of something on the left.... 11 or 14 I believe, whichever it was he bloody enjoyed it!

MOST NOTABLE of all.... Was that everyone (and I mean everyone) was pretending to be Papa and ignoring team orders, so much so I think they should have been called team disorders!

Bull Wars: In short supply tonight but the results were, Ian 2, CM 1.

Chart changes: Casablanca Mike pips Pete at the post and moves up to third position.

Darts – The night of the disappearing leads!

Summer was with us in the Bad Boys Hut. With the aid of the door and windows wide open and the fan on full blast we managed to keep the temperature down to twenty degrees despite having all the spotlights on and the heat generated by the bad boys! Attending were Pete, Steve (Shock Horror!), Casablanca Mike and Ian.

A couple of flips decided that the teams would be Pete and Ian ‘v’ Steve and CM. This was a bit of a reunion pairing for Pete and Ian as we have only been on the same side four times this year prior to tonight which is pretty low out of nineteen occasions when we have both attended.

Steve kicked of the first game with a treble twenty and four eighteens, a nice little earner. There wasn’t much response from me and then CM whacked in a treble twenty and then some. The lads built up a considerable lead, Eventually Ian and I cut the lead down and came quite close to taking the game but Steve and CM deservedly won it.

Strangely this seemed to be a pattern that continued for the rest of the evening with almost all games starting with a massive score for one side or the other and then remarkable catch-up’s taking place. Close and exciting matches all.

None the less there was a definite winning trend and the final score line for the evening was SCM 148 / PI 23567.

Notable events:

All players had some blindingly good darts and some absolutely atrocious ones! Continuity was not the watch word for the evening.

Rushers got a Bull semi combination and I seem to remember that both Steve and CM had some double semi action.

Ian and CM (and I think Steve) all had scoring double treble action.

Bull Wars: Peter 3, Ian 2. Not a high tally, but I will take Bullmeister!

Chart Changes: Casablanca drops one place allowing Peter to move up to third position.

MOTH Competition results: Only one entry from Rushers ‘Man Of The Hour’, he wins the set of Bad Boy flights!

Darts – Papa Fruin, he the boss man.

A nice summers evening, hot air balloons launching nearby and hordes of baby frogs leaping all around the outside of the hut, that has to be a first for the preamble to a Bad Boys evening!

The likely lads who gathered were: Pete, John, Papa, Casablanca, Ian and Doddy. A single flip of the ‘flipometers’ set the teams as Peter, CM and Doddy ‘v’ Eon, Papa and John.

After a short practice we launched straight in to the first game which went to IPJ. The second (a remarkably low scoring game) went to PCMD. The third started looking like an easy win for PCMD but it all went horribly wrong and IPJ took the honours along with the fourth and fifth! Thankfully PMCD managed to take the sixth to look half respectable. Papa had an early start the next day so sadly we never got as far as a seventh.

This made the final score line IPJ 1345 / 26 PCMD a 4- 2 victory to IPJ.

It has to be said that PCM played bloody badly! Not one of us really got to grips with the evening. IPJ had the upper hand and played more consistently.

Notable Events:

Papa claimed he had a bad back because he had been sliding up and down someone’s pole all day! Apparently it wasn’t greased. In any event he had to stop sliding up and down on health and safety grounds; perhaps he would have been better going to work instead.

Despite this ailment he managed to play well enough to be awarded MOTM (or MOTH if you are Ian). If anyone would like to suggest what MOTH stands for the best suggestion will bag a set of Bad Boy flights!

Papa also managed a double bull.

Doddy became our first and now official ‘Blame-meister’ For the first time in Bad Boy history one player said another players turn had cost us a game. Well at least I think it was something to do with another players turn, he said we had lost because Mike had gone down after the first eighteen, oh.....matron!

Bull Wars: Papa 3, Eon 2, CM 1. Making Papa the Bullmeister!

Chart Changes:

RG Rushton goes up to places, which should please him mightily as it is a full recovery from his two place drop last week! Papa is now almost 4% ahead of the pack which it not a bad lead at nearly half way through the season. There is still less than 1% between Ian CM and Peter.

Darts - Rushton is the Bullmeister!

It was a gorgeously sunny evening at the Bad Boys hut. Outside the Moon was clearly visible like a pale white bull’s eye at the centre of an azure dartboard.... Inside the hut the fan had been running at full blast for an hour in an attempt to cool the venue ready for darts, even with the windows open once the spotlights were on it started to get hot but thankfully not unbearable, certainly acceptable with a little iced beer to cool things down!

Tonight’s gladiators were (as usual in order of arrival), Peter, John, Casablanca Mike and Messerschmitt Rushton. The Flipometers were fully charged and immediately returned teams of Pedro and Humphrey Bogart ‘v’ RG Rushton and Stan Lee.

Pete and Humph took first blood comfortably and then Stan and Ian took the second comfortably! Not for the first time the evening settled in to a pattern that lasted almost the entire evening. Peds and Lauren’s bloke taking the odd numbered games and Rushers and Johnny boy taking the even numbered games, this lasted up until the last even numbered game that fell to Pete and CM, making the final score line PCM 13578 / 246 IJ making a 5- 3 victory to Pete and Mike. It was a bloody good evening and very hotly contended, either team were up for making the extra game at any point!

Notable Events:

John had three semis in one turn! An appropriate certificate will be printed to join the others in the Bad Boys hut hall of fame.

Rushers was bloody Bulltastic! He bagged 3 in the first game alone! I am awarding Rushers MOTM on the basis of his superb bull and semi action for the evening.

Something weird was going on with the games tonight. Pete and Mike got way ahead in several games only to be slaughtered by the opposition nailing bulls and semis like their lives depended on it. At least two games were recovered and won by Bull Man and Bobbin as they hammered them home. Unfortunately I can’t tell you if it was the best bull recovery so far in BB as we don’t record them, however I can’t remember bigger ones so we should at least say they equalled previous efforts.

Chart Changes:

There are some! Casablanca Mike is now in second Place behind Papa. Pete Moves up to third and Ian drops to fourth place (ironic considering he played so well). It should also be noted that Peter is now less than 0.5% behind CM and Ian is marginally more than 0.5% behind Peter. Mike D and John are less than 1% apart..... GAME ON!

Darts – And then we were THREE!

Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday Dear BAD BOYS... Happy Birthday to us!

This Tuesday evening was the nearest week of the year to the Bad Boys inaugural evening three years ago. To celebrate we kicked of the evening with a bottle or two of bubbly and some real ‘boy’ picnic food. Nothing sophisticated of course, just chomping material while we chucked arrows!

Attending were Pete, Dave, John, Casablanca Mike, Ian and the Doddmeister. After a bit of quaffing and chit chat we got straight down to the flipometers, which remarkably managed 6 reds on the first throw followed by 5 reds on the second, thankfully the third flip finished sorting out the teams which were Pete, Dave and Doddy ‘v’ John, Ian and Casablanca Mike.

PDD took the first game convincingly rarely putting a foot wrong, then JICM retaliated taking the second game by storm. Both teams having got a ‘stonker’ out of the way the games then settled in to too close for comfort mode, where any could have gone to either team. The evening continued with PDD taking odds and JICM taking evens right up to the last game where the odds got even giving PDD a 4 – 2 victory with the final score line standing at PDD 1356 / 24 JICM

Notable Events:

A new Dartboard! To celebrate our third birthday we hung a new board, it remains to be seen if folks like it as much as the last one.

Pete managed a Bull on Middle for Diddle.

John seemed very keen on treble twenties and treble eighteens. Far too many of us seemed keen on treble non scoring numbers!

There were some excellent darts thrown by everybody throughout the evening but no one stood out enough to be awarded MOTM.

Bull Wars: Despite the general good dart playing the bull count was unusually low with a total haul of 6 (5 scored in game), the honours went thus: Dave 2, Pete 1, Doddy 1, John 1, Ian 1. Making Dave Bullmeister for the evening.

Chart Changes:

No actual changes, but the results do cause some interesting % crunching!

Ian drops just over 1%, Peter up 0.5%, Doddy up 3.3%, Dave up 1.5%, CM down 1% and John down 1.5%

This puts Pete, Ian and CM all within 1% of each other, which should make for some very competitive games in the near future. Game On!

Darts – Total Tension!

There were four likely lads gathered at the hut this Tuesday evening. Pedros, Davos, Mike-Dos and Rushtososososos. Mercifully the flipping was quick with an immediate selection of Pete and MD ‘v’ Dave and Ian.

We cracked straight in to the games and managed to get through a total of seven. Apart from the first game all were hotly contested. I believe they all ended on bulls and there were never more than a couple of semis between the teams at the end of a game.

The final result was a 5-2 victory to Peter and Mike-D. The final score line was PMD 12346 / 57 DI. The closeness of the games isn’t represented by the result. In some games DI were well ahead and only fortuitous bull action robbed them of victory. Having said that I reckon that Pete and Mike did deserve to win.

Notable Events:

Dave had a stunning score on nineteens. He managed to pop in two treble nineteens and a double in one turn adding a remarkable 152 to his teams tally.

I can’t remember if it was the same game but Ian and Dave were way ahead with the scoreboard closed on numbers and a win requiring three bulls to seven. Pete and Mike went on to take the game. Pedros managed to get in the zone and take a bull and two semis in a turn.

MOTM: My partner awarded me MOTM, and hell one vote is enough for me to take a bit of glory, Yehah!

Bull Wars: Peter 5, Ian 4, Mike-D 2.

Chart Changes: All Change – Fares Please!

Papa goes back to the top of the pile, knocking Ian to second place. CM stays in third place. Pete goes up to fourth position forcing John down to fifth. Mike-D gains a massive % boost of nearly 6% which rockets him up to sixth place. Dave drops just over a % which means he is in the seventh slot behind Mike D! Hmmm.... Mr Average strikes again!

Brilliantly exciting games all around, exactly what we all enjoy about Mickey Mouse at Bad Boys! Long may it continue!

Darts - Bring out your Doddy!

Flipping: The teams were sorted in a single flip! Pete, John and Papa ‘v’ Doddy, Ian and CM.

Games: The score line was PJP 145/236 DICM making the evening a Draw!

Notable Events: Nothing stunning but some very close games.

MOTM: None this week.

Bull Wars: Papa 2, CM 2, Peter 1, John 1 Doddy 1.

Chart Changes: Papa drops to second place. As five of tonight’s six players had a % of above 50% the draw means they all dropped slightly. This of course wasn’t the case for Doddy who gains just over a 2% rise! This makes him the top banana for the evening. The rest of will have to do battle another time to raise our percentages...

Attending: Pedros, Sniper Rushton, James Redbond and Casablanca Mike.

Flipping: Casablanca looked like Billy no mates as the flip took place, he was singled out on the first flip and it then took another four flips to find him a partner!

Games: The score line was PM 14569/2378 ID

Notable Events: The majority of games were won with vengeance by one side or the other outclassing the opposition. For once the result was close rather than the individual games!

Several double trebles scored along with several double semis.

Dave managed a bull plus two semis in one turn.

MOTM: None this week.

Bull Wars: Ian 3, Dave 3, Mike 2, Peter 1.

Chart Changes: None (Sort of). Everybody’s percentages went up a little except for Sniper Rushton’s. His dropped exactly enough to leave both him and Papa drawn at first place with 57.58%

Darts – Bad Backed Boys Darts... Nurse!

The bad boys started arriving and as they clambered up the steps to the hut I couldn’t help but notice a couple of them were hobbling. Yes folks, half the world might be being struck down by Mexican Swine Flu, but here in Nailsworth the Bad Boys Darts Club is being laid low by bad backs!

Both Doddy and Papa were suffering and going ‘oooh’ and ‘ahhh’ so I decided we would have a new spin on team selection for the night, Each team would comprise of one bad backed player and two (allegedly) healthy players. Thus, after some flips the teams were: Papa, CM and Inspector Nutting ‘v’ Doddy, Peter and Dave.

Pete, Dave and Doddy managed to take first blood but then Bad Papa, B&B Mike and Stan the Man romped the second game and took the third. A shocked and awed PDD took the fourth, however the fifth went to CMJP. PDD managed to equalise on the sixth, the decider was a clear victory to CMJP.

Both teams had a couple of decisive victories, but the rest were very close. One game was close to being a total draw, with both teams on the same score and a good chance of parity on the bulls.

The evening was immensely enjoyable, every bad boy trying their hardest to play the darts that would turn the tide on the opposition, highly competitive and fun.

Notable events: Mr Fruin really is turning in to Bad Papa, after my nailing of the bullseye he announced that I ‘could offer him a pink one’. I was very worried, it sounded like he would accept!

Bull Wars: plenty of bull action tonight, 13 in total! Papa 3, Peter 3, CM 2, Dave 2, Doddy 2, John 1

Chart Changes: John goes up one place to fourth position, pushing yours truly down to fifth spot.

Despite having a win Papa dropped by 0.05% so no headway towards Ian was made, on the other hand the gap hasn’t really widened either! John raised his score by just over 0.5% Peter dropped 0.5% Dave dropped 0.09% Success for Doddy, he gains a smidgen under 2% even with a bad back!

May promises to be exciting darts with more changes possible... Game on!

Darts – Teddy was Terrible!

It was a five man evening, it should have been six but Doddy was struck down with a nasty bout of man-flu (http://www.manflu.info/). We can only hope he will be recovered enough for boule on Thursday and the piss up (oops sorry wine tasting) on Saturday. Have a hot Toddy Doddy.

Those that made the hut were: Peter, Ian, Dave, Casablanca Mike and ‘Jelly Arm’ Davies. The flipometers were stuck on red, requiring three flips to even show a green! When they did though the teams were picked as Pete, Ian and Casablanca ‘v’ Mike D and John.

We set about the first game and Jelly Arm and Inspector Nutting galloped ahead to victory. Worried looks from the other team were lightened as PICM took the second, however they were soon back when MDJ took the third. Another flip saw PICM take the fourth followed by a flop that gave MDJ the fifth... Then disaster MDJ decided to bag the sixth even though it was an even numbered game! Thankfully the trailing side managed to pull back a little by taking the seventh, making the final score line MDJ 1356 / 247 PICM.

A couple of the games were close but generally whoever won, won by a mile. Both John and Mike-D played very well, it has to be said Mike-D played brilliantly, everyone agreed it was his best ever outing at Bad Boys, he definitely deserves and gets the award of MOTM.

For the losing team it was a very different story, they all played very averagely. Pete and CM both had flashes of decent darting, but surprisingly enough Teddy Rushton couldn’t even manage a decent flash! In fact he thought it was his worst night ever ad Bad Boys and asked me to document it as such. Mike and I weren’t able to argue with him.... OK was that bad enough Rushers? We all agreed that the opposition probably deserved to win 5 – 2, hell how generous are we?

Notable Events: Good double and treble action from John. Ridiculously good double and treble action from Jelly arm!

Bull Wars: CM 2, Ian 1, MD 1, John 1.

Chart Changes: Due to his excellent efforts this evening JA moves up a position to seventh place, moving Steve down to eighth. There is plenty of competition in the offing... Papa is now only just over 1% behind our current leader Teddy Rushton. John is snapping at Peter’s heels at just one quarter % behind. JA is also less than 1% behind Dave...

Darts – What a load of Bull!

Five bad boys gathered to play: Peter, Dave, John, Mike and Papa. It should have been six, but as it all too often the case Steve didn’t turn up or bother to let anyone know he wasn’t coming. Mr Unreliable!

I feel better now. We had a quick practice and then flipped the ‘ometers’. The eventual ‘flipping’ teams were Pete, ‘Butter Flippers’ Weaver and ‘Inspector’ Nutting ‘v’ Dave and Papa.

We zoomed in to the first game and PCMJ took a quick lead and took the leg, not to be outdone though, Dave and Papa fought back and commanded the second game right through to the finish.

Then PCMJ took the third and fourth, one of these was incredibly close with one team scoring on numbers and the other on bulls to determine the winner.

Dave and Papa took the fifth game whitewashing the opposition in the process. We took the sixth, they the seventh and us the eighth.

So it was all pretty competitive but at the end of the evening the score line stood at: PCMJ 134W68 / 257 DP Providing the winners with a 5-3 victory.

There were some great darts all round and very clear periods where one team or the other were definitely ruling the board. Yet again we see how psychological this game can be.

Notable Events: As is often the case now, people’s darts are of a high standard so there is less to stand out, but there were a lot off bulls scored tonight! Speaking of which....

Bull Wars: Papa 5, Dave 4, John 3, CM 2, Peter 1. 15 is a fair old haul for one evening, Papa was of course the Bullmeister with one third of all bulls scored.

Chart Changes: Just one, Papa slips to second place, making Ian the king of the castle, However There isn’t much in it and it could easily turn again over the next couple of weeks.

We are still only a third of the way in to this year’s season, so anything could still happen..... so it is GAME ON!

Darts – Prince Albert in the Hut?

Tonight’s most enjoyable festivities were participated in by: Pete, Dave, Doddy and JA.

We started off with a quick practice; although this soon ground to a halt when JA announced that he had been perusing a Prince Albert piercing while on holiday! Apparently JA (and his wife) had been playing boule in a naturist area. It seems one of his opponents had some scrap metal through his nob, and it quite put JA off his game. Still I suppose it gives you somewhere to hang your boule between throws.

I did notice rather a glint in JA’s eyes and wondered if he had been to see the local ironmonger himself while out there, particularly after he mentioned something to me about ‘blowing it out and shutting it tight’, although he reckoned that was dart talk. I will leave you to be the judge of that.

After Doddy, Dave and I had flipped our flipometers and JA had flicked his Prince we decided the teams were Pete and Dave ‘v’ Doddy and Prince Jelly Arm.

We ended up playing seven games, of those five were very close and three were bull fights. As is often the case this isn’t always reflected in the results. The final score line was PD 123457/W6 DJA. I have to say that a 2-5 or 3-4 result would have reflected the play more reasonably but of course Dave and I are grateful to receive a 6-1 win!

Notable Events:

JA did some excellent Bull/Semi work along with quite a few trebles.

Doddy had some excellent treble throws and (if I remember correctly) in one turn had two trebles and a semi.

Dave also partook of some treble action but also cranked out some great three singles at a time darts just when they were needed, spot on!

Pete was doing ok on semis and managed a bull semi finish in the last game.

Bull Wars: JA 3, Pete 2, Dave 1. Making JA the Bullmeister for the night.

Chart Changes:

Pete’s score increases by about 2.5% which moves him up a slot to fourth place. Dave’s score ramps up by nearly 6% which elevates him two positions to sixth place. Doddy’s score drops by about 3% however he doesn’t change position; JA takes a whopping 11.9% drop which moves him down the ladder by four places to eighth place.

It is worth mentioning that JA was hit harder by his loss because of a relatively low attendance rating. Because everybody’s % is based on the number of games they have played that they have won the more often you play the less dramatic the effect is. Fewer games played but won can mean an astronomic climb but a loss will also produce a dramatic plummet. Play more for more accurate results!

JA is due to play again shortly so hopefully he will be on the winning side and recover his losses!

Following this week we have another highly competitive outing next week: Pete, Papa, Dave, Steve CM and John. Again, I would expect a close result but you just can’t tell, so it is GAME ON!

Darts - Papa’s back on top of the BAD BOYS!

Hello Players, followers and undoubtedly disappointed porn searchers... You have arrived at the latest weekly report of Nailsworth’s BAD BOYS DARTS CLUB.

All of the fixture’s players were on site in good time (particularly Dave, who made it to the hut before me, although I had already powered the beauty up!) Mike-D couldn’t make it this evening due to back damage from over exerting himself in the sand dunes while on holiday in exotic places. But he is forgiven as he has rescheduled for next week which will fill the gap in that fixture.

The evening was exciting and (taking nothing away from it) a typical Bad Boys evening!

More often than not the night looks to be going one way or another and the result looks a foregone conclusion and then it is turned on its head.

The Flipometers were flipped and for one team there must have had a feeling of déjà-Vu as Ian and Dave were selected to oppose Peter, CM and Papa.

We launched in to the first game and DI trounced PCMP and then repeated the effort in the second... One of these games (I think the second) was concluded by Dave scoring a double bull finish.

In the third game things were a lot closer and this year’s star (so far) Papa planted two bulls and a semi in one turn to win the game and stop the whitewash!

Needless to say Ian and Dave took exception to that and won the fourth game!

Then something remarkable happened... The sleepers awoke (Papa’s bulls excluded) PCMP who had been in truth generally playing badly awoke and started fighting back.

The new found confidence resulted in PCMP taking the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth games, these were tight games, but somehow PCMP had managed to kick their finishing buts in to gear and dominated the bull’s eye when needed.

The final score line was: ID 124 / 35678 PCMP

Notable events:

Massive bull action, multi semis, double bulls, bull semis, double bull semis, brilliant. Papa is awarded MOTM for his double bull semi. A photo of which will replace Dave’s equal throw from some time back. Someday we will get the Triple Bull!

Chart Changes:

Papa reclaims the top spot with Ian dropping half a % behind. Peter manages to move up a spot while knocking John down a position.

The 2009 Bad Boys Darts Club Trophy has been ordered and should arrive in the next couple of days. Who will win it? Papa, Ian, Dave, Casablanca Mike, New boy John? The result is still wide open anyone (attending 12 times in the year ) is eligible. Believe it or not it will be my great pleasure to present it to this year’s winner.

Darts – The Lord Giveth and The Lord Taketh Away.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet, far too painful (for me) to spend a lot of time mulling this evening over.

The bad boys on the block tonight were: Pete Dave, Malc, Ian and Doddy. Everyone showed up in good time, several bearing gifts! Ian produced a hatful of darts stems and the like to go in the communal kit tin, so remember if you have a darts emergency on a bad boys night we do have spare stems, flights and if needed sets of darts.

Dave gifted me a set of flights bearing large breasted women, clearly he thinks I am a Sun reader. Obviously I don’t want to offend him so I will start using them as soon as possible! Malc had a brand new nice shiny haircut and was looking very dapper, keep it up old bean it rather suits you sir!

We flipped the ‘ometers’ and had an instant result: Pete, Doddy and Malc ‘v’ Ian and Dave.

Now we get to the gruesome bit... We ended up with a very one sided match but thankfully not a whitewash in sight! Ian and Dave played some great darts and generally speaking Pete, Mike and Malc didn’t!

Although we gave them a run for their money on two or three games we only managed to bag one. The final score line was DI 123467/5 PDM.... Disaster!

Notable Events:

Having stood on the first rung of a stool for one throw Malc is considering investing in some retro platform soled boots for his next BB visit.

Several folks had double semi throws, in fact there were probably more who did than didn’t which is pretty spectacular.

Teddy Boy Rushton actually managed a triple semi finish, which was remarkable not only for the skill but the fact he only needed two to win!

Pete had two bull+semi turns but neither produced a victory.

Dave played well and definitely played the most consistent role of the night and thus is awarded MOTM. Ian and Dave definitely deserved to win the evening, well done lads.

Bull Wars: Mini Malc 2, Pedros 2, Doddmeister 1, Dave 1, Ian 1.

Chart Changes: Oh Calamity! Ian Jumps in to 1st place, a massive 2% above Papa. Peter drops from 4th to 6th place. Dave moves up a spot forcing Doddy down to 9th place. No move for Malc!

So, competition awaits, there are many games still to play this season so, Game On!

URGENT: We are short of players for Tuesday 7th April! Currently it is just Pete and Doddy booked. Dave has offered to do an extra game to make a 3rd player. A fourth would be nice if any of you can make it then please shout.

Darts – Bad Boys Perfection?

I am going to try and not sound over excited, but it is difficult! I am buzzing after what I believe was one of the most competitive night's darts witnessed in nearly three years of bad boys matches...

The evening started with myself, Ian, Steve and Papa all arriving in good time to have a practice and be ready to rock and roll by 8.00pm.

The flipometers did their work fairly quickly drawing an excellent matching of Ian and Steve ‘v’ Peter and Papa. Clearly the evening’s honours could go to anyone and everyone was up for serious darts action!

During the ‘practice’ session Tedforth speared double eleven on his first dart. Steve also skewered it on his first turn. Papa and I were nowhere near. Ian and Steve also bagged the MFD. It wasn’t looking good for the double P team.

It seems however that we didn’t need to worry, the first game got under way and Papa and I settled in to a comfortable lead in fact we rather romped the first game and foolishly (as often happens) I started to see major results heading our teams way.

Papa and I were soon brought down to earth with a bump as Steve and Teddington took game two, followed by game three, followed by game four and much to out humiliation game five!

Now it has to be said that a lot of these games were close, some with only a semi between them, but Steve and Ian definitely had the psychological advantage over us, we were floundering in the waves of a sea of defeat.

But! Papa and I had a King Canute moment and turned the tides back. We managed to take the final three games. Which means the final score line was PPA 1678 / 2345 IS. A hard fought draw!

Notable Events:

Everybody had their golden moments and lacklustre patches as well, but none the less there were some special moments. I think every player at some point scored two semi’s in a turn which is fairly remarkable, although Teddy did go one better and get a bull and two semis in one turn! I believe Rushers also followed that feat by getting a bull and semi the next turn, damn good going.

I have no hesitation in awarding Ian and Steve MOTM for the evening. Ian for some stunning and consistent bull play. Steve for bull action and generally raising his game over recent weeks. A genuinely deserved accolade to both of you. Mind you, if there was an award for fighting back like mad bastards Papa and I would have won it!

What can I say? The numbers say it all... Ian 7, Steve 5, Peter 2, Papa 2.

Chart Changes:

Steve benefits from his excellent play tonight by jumping up a place which of course in true snakes and ladders style means that someone has to go down, therefore Doddy drops a place. Everyone else remains in the same position.

The gap between Papa and Ian (in first and second place respectively) has narrowed considerably; this may well be the major battleground over the next few weeks.

Darts - April Dates Please Gents!

Hello Bad Boys!

It’s time to start booking your April fixtures. Please let me know when you would like to play and I will do my best to accommodate you.

April fixtures are: 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.

Please note: Although I am happy for you to play as little or often as you like I have introduced another ‘local rule’ (not bad really, only the third in as many years). It is basically a formalisation of what has always been in practice. ‘If you attend less than twelve times in a year then your percentage score will not count towards the year’s final placing or be eligible for winning the (newly introduced) annual trophy.

Currently the only players who might wish to bear this in mind (or indeed ignore it!) are Malc, Steve and Mike-D. All other players look on target to exceed twelve games this season.

Darts – Some evenings you have to play catch up!

I knew it was going to be a difficult night at the bad boys club. Pete, CM, Dave, Ian and Doddy arrived in good time; this however was followed by severe dart maintenance by Dave and Doddy.

Once this was over we started flipping the flipometers. Believe it or not the five of us flipped five reds three times before we had a team draw on the fourth flip. If there are any mathematicians amongst you I would love to know what the odds are of that, it’s an awful lot of reds for a 50-50 outcome!

The (finally) flipped teams were: Casablanca Mike and Tedforth Rushton ‘v’ Pedronius, Davina and Dodderer.

Casablanca and Tedforth belted away from the starting grid to easily take the first game, first blood the opposition thought, nothing to worry about but not ideal. Well dear readers I can tell you that by the time CM & T had taken the second, third and fourth games your humble narrator was feeling pretty pissed off!

There seemed nothing we could do, we raised our game but it made no difference they were still trouncing us, M & T were definitely outplaying us.

During the closing stages of the fourth match we decided the evening had to be ‘A game of two halves’. Accordingly we took our first blood in the fifth game, about time we thought! Then despite a close game Red Ted and Chairman Mike still managed to win the sixth and sealed our fate.

It was now a damage limitation exercise; Dave, Doddy and I managed to take the seventh and eight games, we were definitely in ascendance but sadly too late in the day!

No complaints, Rogers and Hammerstein made beautiful music and deserved their win. The final score line was: CMI 12346 / 578 PDDO.

Notable Events: This is now getting very hard to report. In terms of skilled darting every week there are stunning darts thrown that a year ago would have been newsworthy but are now just good darts! There were a couple of double semis scored which in my book are always worth a mention!

Of course there are other notable events, Rushton very nearly had his tits pierced for being annoying, hmmm... but maybe that isn’t unusual?

Actually I have just remembered a proper notable event! CM & IR were way behind on a game and nearly took the pants of us.... They caught up from way behind and had to be defeated at the last second. For some reason they refused to believe we were just toying with them!

Bull Wars: CM 1, Peter 1, Doddy 1. No massive Bullmeister stuff this evening, must have been a lot of semi’s...

Chart Changes: Pete drops to 4th place as Mike Weaver goes up to 3rd position. Papa maintains his lead from Ian. This year is certainly continuing to be exciting and competitive, it is still anyone’s game, who knows who will lift the Bad Boys 2009 trophy!

Oh... Yes... There is going to be a trophy this year! I am arranging for an engraved ‘tulip’ pint beer glass for this year’s winner. So don’t forget to ‘C***c For Chalk!’

Darts – A Bad Boys Record!

We had five BAD BOYS in the hut on Tuesday night. Raring for dart action were: Pete, John, Papa, Casablanca Mike and Teddy Rushton.

After a bit of practice and several flips the teams were decided as John and Ian ‘v’ Peter, Mike and Papa. A good even draw I reckon and it would be a brave man who bet on the outcome.

Everyone was clearly in a competitive mood and both sides were keen to rack up some wins. The play was fast and occasionally furious leading to a new BAD BOYS record of nine games of Mickey Mouse completed by just after 10.00pm!

There were two or three games that ended with significant score differences but mostly they were very close, one only having a three point difference. It was nip and tuck all the way as you will see when I tell you that the final score line was: JI 1468 / 23579 PCMP.

Only in the last game did a team finally win the battle over what seemed like a never ending round of draws.

There were some patches of stunning darts played by all. In truth it looked to me like Ian and John probably played the best darts, however they didn’t win!

Bulls Wars: CM 4, John 3, Ian 2

Casablanca Mike was the bullmeister with some stunning semi & bull combination work; however John was only just behind and would have drawn on bulls if one dart that he planted right in the centre of the red hadn’t decided to fall out. Believe it or not there was genuine sympathy.

CM finished one game with a double bullseye. Several players also had some high scoring triple action.

Chart Changes:

Papa, Ian and John all had lowered %’s, while CM and Peter raised a little. Remarkably there wasn’t much actual movement; John slipped one position allowing Mike-D to take sixth place. Otherwise the charts look much the same. Papa is still a little above Ian while Pete and CM are still level pegging! There are some great players down the bottom end who only need one or two winning nights to storm up the charts.

So all to play for... Game On!

Darts – No quarter given or expected!

For my money it was another brilliant night of darts at the bad boys club. We weren’t mob handed; just four players but we still had a great time.

The crew consisted of Peter, Steve, John and Casablanca Mike. I had already made a mental note that this combination should produce pretty even odds on any selection making good opposition, was I right?

The flipometers did their work first time around teaming Pete and Steve ‘v’ John and CM. We wasted no time getting in to the action...

John and CM took the first. Steve and I retaliated winning the second. Then for my team it went a bit pear shaped as Stanley and Honda Mike (I thought I better use that nickname again tonight as it’s the last time I will be able to, officially!) took the third and fourth games.

I have to say Steve and I were getting a little despondent; it looked like we were going down the tubes. We grabbed a lifeline and bagged the fifth but what good did it do us? Not a lot as Stan the man and Mike the bike took the sixth game. With the odds definitely going against us we launched in to the seventh and took is and wonder of wonders we followed it up with the eighth!

The quick witted amongst you (that is all of us surely?) will have worked out it was a draw and depending on if you are a glass half full or empty person no one lost or won! Final score line JCM 1346 / PS 2578.

The games worked out pretty equally I reckon both sides had a game where they romped it and the rest were close and some very close! It was great competition and every time any player went off the boil the opposition were ready to take advantage and usually did!

Notable events:
A lot of trebles scored and quite a few ‘five of a kind’ by both teams.
I think I probably managed the highest scoring turn by bagging 8 scoring 18’s what a lovely pick up that was!

Bull Wars: Pete 4, CM 2, Steve 1.

Chart Changes:

Amazing.... Only one change! Steve rises from ninth to eighth place meaning Dave drops to ninth. This is unheard of, Dave in ninth place? Pull your finger out Redbond, Malc is right behind you!
The rest is unchanged. Papa is still a smidgen above Ian, CM and I are still level pegging and John and Mike-D are sharing the same percentage. Steve and Doddy are now in contention, so for everybody it is....

Darts – Bad Boys, a joy to play; win or lose?

Another brilliant evening in the hut! Six spear chuckers all determined to win and giving it their all, you really can’t ask for more than that. The competition was very intense.

After a very prompt arrival the crew had a quick practice, notably no one went for double elevens, must have been because the Rushton was not in the house!

The flipometers were used several times before the final teams were decided: Casablanca Mike, Doddy and Mike Davies ‘V’ Peter, Dave and Papa. Did any of you notice that the first team comprised of three Mikes?

Mike Davies noticed (being one of the three Mikes) and immediately asked me if I could check the club statistics to see if three Mikes had ever played together before?

Rather than check I told him to fuck off and look on the blog for himself! This isn’t boule Jelly Arm the tools are there, do your own research! Sometimes I think I am too polite and accommodating to members!

The evening was supercharged with all matches being well contested, some more than others but a good showing all around. The first match started at full pelt, not the usual ramp up. It was hard fought from the start with players doubling, trebling and shag-hi-ing all over the place.

CMDMD took the next three games and although some could have gone either way it was looking bad for PDPAPA. I told Dave it would be a game of two halves but sadly the second half was too short!

The final score line was CMDMD 1234 / 56 PDPAPA. CMDMD definitely deserved to win as they certainly played better through the evening, but it was very close, a draw was only ever a dart away!

Notable Events:

Although not on duty, Teddy rang at about 10.30 for a heads up on how the %’s were shaping up, now that is what I call dedication!

Doddy played some stunning darts, doing an Old Mac Donald on trebles amongst other things. He definitely gets MOTM on two counts. Playing above his usual standard and playing bloody good darts full stop!

Mike-D had a Bull +Semi.

Doddy had a double semi

Pete, Doddy and hell, I think nearly everybody had a Shang-Hi during the evening they were happening all over the place!

The same can’t be said for bulls.....

Bull Wars: Dave was King! No doubt about it. Dave 5, CM 1, MD 1, Pete 1, Papa 1

Chart Changes: Amazingly only one change!
Doddy climbs the ladder from eighth to seventh position while Dave obligingly slides down the snake from seventh to eighth. However there is more interest here....

Papa is still in first place! But less than 0.25% ahead of Ian. Peter and CM are equal third place at 53.06%. John and Mike-D are equal fifth place at 50.00% and Steve and Malc are equal ninth place at 14.29%!

So, all things being equal... I can say it is definitely GAME ON!

Darts – Mickey Mouse, what a stunning game it is!

Darts is a funny old game. While I don’t mind (now and then) watching professionals on TV roaring through legs of 501, I have to say that I really couldn’t be arsed to play it myself.

Of course 501 is a game of pure skill, but I like to add some tactics to my game. When you play at our level (average!) you need the opportunity to capitalise on something other than pure dart throwing skill! Mickey Mouse (or as some call it ‘Tactics’) gives you all of that. You can be neck and neck in a game and the decision of where to go next can be the deciding factor of the game, to chase or not to chase? Hammer a scoring number or open another number that you know the opposition can murder you on? Go for a double target early or play the high scorers straight down the line?

For me, as far as darts goes Mickey Mouse is ‘The beautiful game!’

Anyway on to the games.....

Steve didn’t turn up and not a word to say why... But that didn’t stop Pete, Ian, Casablanca Mike and John heading for the hut and getting ready to rumble (or possibly grumble). After some waiting (for Steve) we started flipping and the sides came out as Ian and Pete ‘v’ Mike and John.

For a change I am going to start with the score line! PI 13458 / CMJ 267. AS you can see that was a 5 – 3 victory to Ian and Peter, but they were brilliant games and we never really seemed to know who was going to win then until a good way through, except game six which was a walkover by CMJ.

Actually it was quite a surprise that CMJ didn’t win the evening, at least three of the games they lost started with them having a 100+ lead sometimes nearer to 200. However Rushers and I were on fire for the first half of the evening and we managed to chew up those leads and take the games.

The opposition had a bit of a comeback towards the end, and regardless of who won and who should of won they were exciting games and we all had some purple patches. Ian and Peter's patches lasted longest... so I humbly awarded us both MOTM.

Notable Events:

Peter had a double bull finish, two sets of double trebles and some shanghai action.

Ian had trebles galore and some shanghai action.

CM and John both had some excellent treble action and also partook of some shanghais.

Bull Wars: Peter 3, Ian 1.

Chart Changes: Peter moves up one to third, CM moves up one to fourth which means john slides down to fifth place. Papa and Ian remain in first and second place respectively.

We have a full house next week, including Dave, Doddy, Papa and Mr Average...

Darts - Papa, Papa, Papa!

Firstly I want like to say what a hardy lot the Bad boys are. As the rest of the UK apparently comes to a stop because of snow the bad boys Tuesday tournament carries on regardless (oh er, missus). So thanks gents for making the effort to pay homage in the hut regardless of the weather, much appreciated.

Tonight was the fifth fixture this year meaning that we are at the 10% spot, undoubtedly there are many twists and turns to be taken over the rest of the year but already there are some new trends appearing that suggest 2009 will bring some very different results to previous years.

Anyway on to the games! We had a very unusual ‘flipping’ with the first round only selecting one player. Those with (allegedly) better logic than mine managed to see a way of picking the teams out of the second flip while I was already contemplating the third.

The teams turned out to be John, Ian and Dave ‘v’ Pete, Papa and Casablanca Mike.

JID got straight out of the traps with a nice win on game one. PPACM weren’t having any of that and took the second game. Then a tragedy (as far as I am concerned) occurred, not only did JID take the third game but the sods whitewashed us in the process!

Teddy Rushton stood at the scoreboard and had the gall (while wielding the chalk) to ask me what the sign was for a whitewash! Fortunately my response caused more hilarity than the pain inflicted by his cruel jibe.

If you believe in karma then this was probably the undoing of rear gunner Rushton and his press ganged crew for the rest of the evening, from here on the washed up team cleaned up good and proper!

PPACM took the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh games, if Papa hadn’t got bored with winning and decided to go home then an eight win would have followed as surely as a sand dance on the boule piste in summer...

Which of course means the final score line was JID 13 / 2W4567 PPACM.

Notable Events:

I certainly can’t pick anybody out as MOTM. But in truth everybody had flashes of brilliance, but none of them lasted long enough to stand out head and shoulders above anyone else.

There were so many ‘flashes’ that I will admit that I cannot remember the majority of then so forgive me if your favourite isn’t mentioned...

Probably the best was Ian with 8 x 18 with 5 of them scoring, he also had a very useful Shang-Hi.

Papa piled in the 17’s as usual.
CM had several flurries but also did a lot of his workman like darts we all love, 3 singles in the right number at the right time, plenty of semis as well.

Dave had some great trebles work and again did some stunning triple single work when needed. Dave was also a regular semi bull man.

John was on triple and double duty.

Peter had a nice run on 19’s and a double semi finish, but not a bull to be seen, which brings me on to...

Chart Changes:

It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Papa is in the number one spot, go Papa!

Ian also moves up one place to second position.

John vacates first place and takes up residency in third place.

Pete, CM and Dave stay where they are along with the rest of the bad boys.

It is great to see new movers and shakers at the top of the tree this season. If any of the old hands want to discuss ways of nobbling these upstarts I am all ears, hell the phone is ringing, ‘Hi Ian, oh... a conference call with Dave.. Sure’... As I was saying well done lads!

Darts – A Bulltastic Evening!

Tuesday rolled around again and four bad boys rolled up for a serious head to head evening. The warriors hefting the mini spears were: Pedro, Eon, Mike Casa-Belcher and a first season outing for ‘Jelly Arm Davies’.

It was an AB-FAB evening of darts with some stunning play by all (more of this in notable events) and some incredibly close matches with the odd runaway success. I think that all the players would agree that almost up to the last game the night’s outcome was debatable, if you wanted to see some seriously competitive darts then last night the hut was the place to be!

Firstly I would like to say what a pleasure it was to see Mike-D (AKA –JA) in ‘da’ hut! First time this year and I was very happy to be partnering him.

Actually it was almost a foregone conclusion that I would be partnering him! You want to know why? Because both Ian and Belcher prepared their darts for practice and then they both scored double eleven with their first dart. They were like some freaky blood brother voodoo thing; thank god ‘JA’ and I were teamed to represent the high moral ground by getting fuck all in practice! The ‘flipometers’ had mystically done their work once again.

The first game got off to a good start and was claimed by JA and Pete, mighty happy we were to. The second was a close affair but pipped by JAP. The honours for games three through to six went to the missile team (ICBM).... Ian, Casablanca (Belcher) Mike. The JAP’s managed to take the seventh game but the burpers repeated on the eighth. Making the final score line:

JAP127 / 34568 ICBM

I can say (hand on my heart) that the result could have gone either way it was a brilliant evening, the competition was incredibly close. Out of the eight games played two of them only had a one point difference in the score, one game didn’t even have that, the scores were drawn and the finish was either a complete draw (our first?) or ICBM would win, whoever got the next semi, ICBM triumphed. Both teams had a runaway success each.

So, stunningly close, however I don’t want to take away the glory from ICBM they definitely deserved to win but it was one hell of a fight!

Notable Events:

Despite the belching top honours must go to Casablanca Mike who I believe is the second (correct me if I am wrong) Bad Boy to achieve a ‘triple treble’ (not to be confused with three semis!), his chosen number was sixteen, freakily one under the first ‘triple treble’ of seventeen scored by Steve Morgan. Who will be third? Who will be first to take the highest possible accolade of three red bulls?

CM is awarded MOTM for a cooly executed TT.

Several players (possibly all except me) managed a Shang-Hi

A couple of players (one from each team I think) managed two semis in a turn.

I think it is also fair to say that we had the most stunning end to a game that I can remember since we started Bad Boys. In this particular game it had been nip and tuck and Ian took to the oche on behalf of ICBM and planted a bull and semi, putting his team in the driving seat, by the time Pedro’s turn came around for JAP the only possibility of winning the game was to emulate Ian and plant another bull and semi.

Mike-D and Pete joked about zen-ning up and then, yet again it was proved that on occasion the game is as much psychological as physical when Pete seriously zoned and managed to get a semi, followed by a bull to take the game... Dave, I know you will appreciate that!

Bull Wars: Wahoa! CM 4, Peter 4, Ian 3, JA 2.

Pretty good I reckon, not that I have counted (although the data is on the blog) but 13 is pretty good for one evening!

Chart Changes:

John remains top of the pile; this of course might well change on his next visit. Ian drops a place to third which puts Papa in second place. This puts Peter and CM level pegging in equal fourth place at 50%.

Mike-D has had his first showing which immediately pushes him up to sixth place 37.5% ahead of Dave, Doddy, Steve and Malc.

I guess this means that the number one spot this year is shaping up to be anyone’s and that in turn must means for every other position it is GAME ON!

Darts – A New Year A New Leader Board!

Tuesday brought a full house to the Bad Boys Hut. Pete, Papa, Dave, Doddy, Ian and Casablanca Mike. After several flips the teams were: PDADO ‘V‘ ICMPAP.

Double elevens and Middle for diddle were despatched in short order with ICMPAP taking the MFD, this turned out to be an ominous sign of the way the evening would go for PDADO!

Ian, Mike and Papa took the first five games! There were about three of those that were properly contested, but none the less all but one were deserved victories. Thankfully (for PDADO) they managed to steal the sixth game to avoid a whitewash, however the seventh also went ICMPAP.

Bringing the final score line to: ICMPAP 123457 / 6 PDADO.

Firstly it has to be said that Ian, Papa and Mike deserved the victory they played excellently. Secondly Pete, Dave and Doddy really never managed to shine for more than the odd turn during the evening they probably deserved to win one of the other games but that was it. On the night they were outclassed by the opposition.

CM managed 2 x T20 and wasn’t too far off making it a hat trick.

Papa led the pack for most of the evening, but Ian also played very well, yet again I find myself awarding MOTM to both of them. This is quite worrying, Ian has played three times this season and Papa twice, on all occasions played they have both been MOTM!

Wow, the year might be shaping up very differently!

John remains in pole position, Ian is second, Papa third, Pete is demoted to mid table along with Casablanca Mike. A double hit for Dave and Doddy sees them in joint sixth Place with Steve and Malc biting at their heels.

As I said last week it is still early days but I definitely think this year is shaping up to be more competitive and reckon that the final scores for all will be crunched nearer to the 50% mark.

I predict that I won’t take the top position this year, time for some other bugger to rule the roost after all 2006, 2007 and 2008 is long enough for anyone.... Lets ‘ave it!

Darts – Is John really Gary Glitter?

As last week’s cold snap was over, the Bad Boys managed to walk rather than slide up to the hut... For the second week of the new season it was another full house. Peter, Ian, Malc, Casablanca Mike, Stan the Man and Steve.

I broke out the flipometers without my usual silly question of what colour do you want (they are two sided, red and green) only to find that Teddy Boy Rushton complained that he had the wrong colour, I suppose it’s my fault for spoiling him! After we flipped out the teams were Peter, Ian and John ‘V’ Casablanca, Steve and Malc.

We launched straight in to the games, despite what you will see shortly as the final score line the games were a mixed bag, one or two were substantial wins, most were close and a couple saw the lead swap at least once, however the final score line didn’t really reflect the efforts of the losing team.

As always (well nearly as always) all players had some purple patches, particularly in evidence was Mr Rushton and Mr Morgan who both take MOTM for the evening. I am particularly pleased about this as both these guys dipped towards the end of last year, so back on form!

Notable Events:

John has taken the top spot on his first outing of 2009. Is he really the leader of the gang? Only time will tell!

Malc didn’t have his best game tonight but he sure as hell guaranteed his team their only win in game five with the deadest centre bull seen for months.... Go Malc Go!

As previously mentioned Ian and Steve were throwing some excellent darts. Ian even threw some when it wasn’t his turn, mind you Steve quickly pointed out that they wouldn’t count.

John had some new darts with flights so small that if they had been girl’s knickers he would have been arrested. Hmmm... I expect he will have traditional bloomers on next time he chucks them. Oops... on the darts I mean!

Malc is AW(O)L for the next 8 weeks, so please try to take up the slack in your Feb and March bookings... I said slack!

Chart Changes:

It has to be said that things are very volatile in the charts for the first few weeks, so maybe there isn’t a lot of point analysing trends yet. However, clearly having the new boy in the number one spot isn’t a trend the rest of us like the look of, any of you know how to cut the brake lines on Mercs?

If it is any consolation to other players I can guarantee that bottom three will move up and the top three will move down over the next couple of months, so it is as I normally say.....

Darts - Captain Birdseye?

Yo Bad Boys!

It was Tuesday, it was freezing cold, it was the first Tuesday of the new year, all the stats were reset to ZERO, no one was ahead, no one was behind it was ground zero for BAD BOYS 2009!

The first fixture of the year saw Pete, Dave, CM, Papa, Ian and Doddy ascend the frosty stairs to the hallowed hut for the first match of the New Year, Hurrah!

It turned out to be a bizarre evening’s darts score wise, probably only one game was close all the others were fairly decisive, this is what went down....

First things first... We had probably the most amazing flip of the flipometers so far!

Ian, Pete and Papa were stood one side of the hut, Dave, Doddy and CM the other.... I handed out the flipometers and we all used them only to find that D,D,CM were on one team ‘V’ I,P,P on the other, now that really is psychic something or other!

PEIPA Took the first and second games and were beginning to think the entire evening might go their way. But in usual bad boy style, no such thing! DDCM locked horns (oohhh er missus) and took games three and four.

After much gnashing of teeth PEIPA took the fifth and sixth! This gave a final score line of PEIPA 1256 / 34 DDCM.

In truth there was nothing remarkable about any of the games as a whole, what was remarkable was that every player had an excellent purple patch at one point or another. As far as MOTM went, Papa stole the show early but Captain Birdseye did well later and therefore shares MOTM with Papa!

Notable Events:

Ian looked very nautical and was variously named Captain Haddock, Captain Pugwash (via email from Dave) and Captain Birds Eye.... Say no More!

Anyway, Captain Dodgy managed 2 x T20 in one turn & T x T (something else high scoring) in one turn in the same game, stunning!

Papa was having it off with treble 2 x T17 and millions of others, special mentions for his T15 work!

Dave had 2 x T20

CM had shanghi’s

Doddy had a bit of everything and was very hot, looking good for 2009 methinks

Peter managed a double semi.

Bull Wars: Doddy took the first bull of the year and Peter followed, that was it!

Darts – A fitting final game for the 2008 season.

Greetings Bad Boys. The Final line up for 2008 comprised of Bad Boy regulars Pete and Malc along with a guest appearance of next seasons new boy John Nutting.

I am sure (as the rest of us already have) that John will gain plenty of Bad Boy monicas over the coming year, have you noticed how we all seem to have several names now? I’ll start early and call him Stan the man for tonight (yes there is a story behind that but I will leave John to explain that one to you)!

I chose to break some rules for one night only and dispense with the flipometers. I decided to pitch Malc and myself (representing both ends of the current chart %’s against Stan (knowing he probably would be quite handy on the arrows) hoping that might give us a decently matched game.

Well, I have to report that Johnny boy looks like he will be an excellent addition to the Bad Boys league next year. I suspect some of his nicknames gifted from other players might begin with B, F and C. It has to be said he was chucking arrows that would frighten any of us.

Fortunately JN’s poor old arm wasn’t used two a couple of hours of solid punishment (say ahhhh.... everybody) and Malc and I (being seasoned, trained professionals) eventually got the upper hand! Mind you it was a hell of a fight...

The final score line was: J 13 / 2456 PM.

Notable Events:

I think I have this about right: Both Stan, Pete and Malc had double semis in a turn. I also managed a bull-semi and think john may have as well.

The man from Oxon put a dart in the wall! (Hah, and you thought I forgot about that eh Malc?)

Malc , although never bagging a bull was shit hot on the semis, not to mention plenty of treble fifteen action.

Bull Wars: Stan 4, Peter 2. (Cough, not a bad first showing John).

Chart changes: None, had John’s score been eligible (which we agreed before the game it wasn’t) it would have been 33.3%. Malc’s % rose by 3.7% to 33.9%. Peter’s score remained static at 66.29%.

Well that is it for official scoring for 2008. I will try and get a year round up posted before the first match of next year (6th Jan 2009). If any of you have any observations you would like included, then give me a shout.

Darts – Twas the night before Christmas

Well almost, there were certainly creatures stirring in the bad boy hut, namely Peter, Dave, Cass and Steve.

At eight of the clock the four of us flipped the golden doubloons of the dart hut only to find they were all red. After a bit more flipping we were set with an excellent pairing; Pete and Steve ‘V’ Dave and Cass.

As potentially the last game of the year there was quite a lot riding on this evening’s game, certainly the fate of Ian and Dave’s close positions (mere hundredths of a % point apart) would be decided.

The first and second game went to Steve and Pete, the third and fourth to Dave and Casablanca Mike, at this stage it was looking like the expected draw or near draw for the evening, however that wasn’t what happened. Pete and Steve bagged the next four games gaining a 6 – 2 victory. The final score line being:

PS 125678 / DCM 24.

Now I can’t let that result go without some proper explanation. There were several games that Mike and Dave could have won and maybe should have won! They had one big problem; Steve and I were incendiary, truly on fire!

There were a couple of games where DCM were a hundred plus ahead but somehow Steve and I managed to catch up and steal those games. We were belting trebles and bulls in all over the place. Under normal circumstance I reckon a small win would have been more appropriate.

Notable Events:

Plenty of good darts from both sides’ double doubles and shanghais etc.

Pedro’s treble action, a bizarre amount of trebles were thrown, often on the first dart killing the oppositions lead on a number. Seriously it was quite frightening, as Colin used to say several months ago ‘How can you play against that?”

One game had a hundred plus lead destroyed and the game lost by literally boat loads of fourteens being scored by the opposition.

Chart Changes:

Ian returns to third place as Dave drops to fourth. Steve opens the gap between himself and Doddy.

This may be the final position for the year. Ian and I are currently the only bad boys scheduled to play on the 30th December. As I have said previously if only two players attend a fixture this will not count towards league results. However both Steve and Dave have said they have an interest in attending the final fixture of the year! So we will see if this transpires, I know it is a busy time. Needless to say if any other Bad Boys fancy a mid-xmas break at the darts hut then just shout, you will be most welcome.

In any event I will attempt a short round up of the 2008 season before the first game of 2009 kicks of on the 6th of January!

Darts - Jelly Arm Stiffens Up!

We are almost there, the end of the 2008 season and as I had been predicting there were still things to play for and there still might be further changes after tonight’s revelations, which are:

‘Twas a cold, dark, wet night and nothing was a stirring in the fiefdom of Nelly except the BAD BOYS!

Unfortunately Doddy had to drop out for the evening but we still had players a plenty with Pete, Ian, Dave, JA and Casablanca Mike all ready to hurl arrows by the stroke of eight. The flipometers pitched Ian and CM ‘V’ Pete, Dave and Mike-D. A decent draw I reckon, and then battle commenced.

The games were a mixed bag, a couple with a reasonable score difference, some quite close and some excruciatingly close, particularly the last one (take a look at the blackboard picture!)

The final score line was PDM 14567 / 23 CMI

As you can see, PDM took first blood and then lost out until around the half way mark when things started going their way again. It has to be said that game seven was a real frightener that could have gone either way; in fact CM and Ian were making all the headway. I reckon that if they had got game seven then they would have rightly asked for an eighth and probably have forced a draw; they were in ascendance at the end of the evening.

Jelly Arm Davies was definitely MOTM, he played very well and once again raised his game above performance for the earlier part of the year. JA is definitely going to be a greater threat to all in 2009 than 2008!

Notable Events:

Nothing outrageous, but there were some great darts played by both teams including at least a couple of double semis and a shang-hai (Ian I believe).

Bull Wars: A top result, all players had a bull, the final tally was: CM 2, Ian 2, Dave 2, Mike-D 1, Peter 1.

Chart Changes: There are two changes this week. Firstly Mike-D (JA) has sneaked ahead of Colin’s final %. Dave has managed a near end of season boost to pull slightly ahead of Ian by a microscopic 0.17%!

This brings me on nicely to the end of the year. There are potentially two fixtures left, currently:

23rd December Peter, Dave, Steve and CM

30th December Peter and Ian.

The 23rd is valid as long as nobody drops out, and anyone else who can play is welcome. The 30th currently only has two players, if others would like to play then it will count towards the years total, if not as it is only two players it will be marked as a friendly only and not contribute to the year totals.
